Yes, 11 days before HALLOWEEN and I have found a couple of stations online playing Christmas music. One (in Pittsburgh) is streaming it separately from their on air broadcast, but the other one (in St. Louis) has gone to all Christmas music on the air. Apparently, this station is going to an all sports format January 1 and decided to get a jump on the holiday season.
Pretty soon, stations will start doing this after Labor Day.

You're right Joe, it seems like they are starting with the holiday music earlier and earlier each year. Mid-October is way too early! By the time Christmas actually does roll around, everyone will be tired of listening to the music!

Hi Joe Wow, already? Yikes, it's waaaay to early. One of our local stations here (they are a soft - rock station) switches to an all Xmas music format, over the Xmas season. I believe they at least wait until about a week into December before doing so.

With how many stations now-especially with XM and the net-it doesn't surprise me! (We've gotten a jump on the holiday here-my girls made me get all the Christmas toys out of the attic!)
The Lite station here is the one that plays non-stop Christmas at the holidays. I THINK they used to start it after Thanksgiving, but last year I believe they started it in early November. I should check it out.

I am a faithful listener to the Lost 45's - a program that airs in Boston every Sunday night 7-11. Our oldies station Oldies 103 airs that program. Imagine my surprise when I heard Christmas music being played at 7:00 instead of the regular programming! I was so angered that I tried reaching the stations toll free request line and all I got was a busy signal! I have no issues with Christmas music, but for one, we haven't reached Thanksgiving yet! Secondly, all their specialty shows have been suspended until after the holidays. Needless to say I never got to hear the Lost 45's or even hear the host, Barry Scott interview one of my idols, Brian Wilson. I had my tape deck ready! So I wonder if any my friends have experienced this as well.

Yesterday I saw the classic Hershey Kisses "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" commercial twice. I think this is the earliest I've ever seen it aired in the season. I like Christmas music, but between the 24/7 holiday music stations, store and restaurant PAs, and commercials and such, I'm usually getting a bit tired of it by the time the day does roll around. It wouldn't be so much if they played more of a variety of carols and original Christmas songs, but it seems to be mostly the same ones over and over, especially Silver Bells, Jingle Bell Rock and Winter Wonderland.
