Well, once again I didn't do the Christmas tourney. (But it doesn't look like people have been on much lately!)
But I wanted to contribute a Christmas post, so here it is. (I may have done this before, but what the hey.
I wanted to know your fave Christmas songs-regardless of who sang them-in each of the following categories.

Cool idea for a post! Religious: Carol of the Bells God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen O Little Town of Bethlehem (this was my granddad's favorite; always reminds me of him) O Holy Night Traditional: Sleigh Ride The Christmas Song Happy Holiday It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year We Need A Little Christmas Rock era: Christmas Wish - NRBQ (my very favorite; VERY Pet Sounds-influenced!) Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney Step Into Christmas - Elton John Driving Home for Christmas - Chris Rea Winter Symphony - Beach Boys Happy Xmas - John & Yoko Christmas All Over Again - Tom Petty Blue Christmas - Elvis (wasn't sure to put this here or under Traditional, but Elvis' is the earliest version I've heard) Santa, Bring My Baby Back to Me - Elvis Jingle Bells - Jose Feliciano (not a huge fan of the song ordinarily, but I do love Jose's version) Santa's Magical Bag - Peppermint Kandy Kids (this is from a Christmas album I've owned since 1972, and have played every year since then. I've never heard it covered by anyone else, but I've always loved this jazzy tune. I found an mp3 of it online: sixeyes.blogspot.com/2008/12/sixeyes-one-and-only-christmas-mix.html - click on the song title to hear it.) Cartoon: Linus & Lucy You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch My World is Beginning Today (from Santa Claus is Comin' to Town) Put One Foot in Front of the Other (also from Santa is Comin') Have a Happy and The Moving Finger Writes (from Rudolph's Shiny New Year. Does that mention of "19-wonderful" near the end of the show make anyone else feel old? I guess they weren't expecting people to still be watching the show after 1999.) The Miser Songs

I agree--GREAT topic!
Religious Allelujah Chorus (we'd sing this at Christmas concerts in high school--I was the star, as I was the only Tenor I who could hit, "and HE shall reign...) Oh Holy Night Silent Night--THIS always hits home for me... Bells of St Mary's (by Darlene Love on the Phil Spector Christmas Album)
Traditional Marshmallow World--Dean Martin, of course. Let it Snow!, Let it Snow! Let it Snow! White Christmas Holly Jolly Christmas
Rock era Little St. Nick--Beach Boys Run Run Rudolph--Chuck Berry The whole Phil Spector Christmas album--absolutely amazing
Cartoon Heat Miser, Snow Miser I don't know the name, but the song Fred Astaire sings during the wedding scene in "Santa CLaus is Coming to Town"--ABSOLUTELY chokes me up every time... Linus and Lucy
