Let's look at another grouping of songs. Our scale:

5.0 - A song you absolutely love, one of your absolute favorites
4.0 - While not quite top-tier, a song you enjoy a lot
3.0 - Not a favorite, but you basically like it
2.0 - A "meh" song, you could take it or leave it
1.0 - Yikes! Turn that song off!

(discovered this in the Compleat Beatles video. Love it!)

(for some reason I really disliked this song back in '85. It's grown on me a bit since, although still not among my favorites by them)

One of many that I originally recorded off the radio. I liked it then, and I still like it today.

Same with me Dawn, we had both the 8 track and the album of
The Best Of Bread in the house back in the 70's and this song was the first that I heard. Still love their music to this day.

An early rock/R&M classic. (Gets most of its points for that, not that it's a great song.)

Always Something There to Remind Me - Naked Eyes 2.4
The one thing that killed this cover for me was their alternative note progression on the title line. It ruined the song, IMO.

Baby I'm A Want You - Bread 3.9
I love Bread also, but this one didn't do for me what at least half a dozen others did (Guitar Man, Aubrey, Lost Without Your Love to name 3)

Marrakesh Express - Crosby, Stills & Nash 3.4
Many others of theirs that I like better.

Cherish - Kool and the Gang 3.7
This one has been growing on me.

Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues 4.7
Love the song (all time #52), love the album, love the Moodys!

What You Need - INXS 2.4
Not a fan of theirs, but they had their moments. This rates almost OK.

Up Around the Bend - Creedence Clearwater Revival 4.0
I've always liked this, and most CCR songs. The only knock on them is that John has such a distinctive voice that it tends to make you think that all their songs are the same.

My Life - Billy Joel 3.2
Many of his I like better, and this was overplayed to boot.

The Glamourous Life - Sheila E. 1.7
Nah

I love the Spoonful, but this is pretty close to the bottom of my list of their songs.

That Best of Bread collection is great, isn't it? There's something about their music that is so soothing and timeless.

September is an awesome song, one of my favorites as well.

Very cool about Make It With You being your message ringtone! I need to find some new ones for my phone, as all I have are the standard ones that came with it, and they're kinda boring.

I agree about Nights in White Satin - a fabulous song from a great album.

I like Rain on the Roof, but like you, there are a number of songs by them I prefer over it. I remember listening to their greatest hits tape in my car over and over until I just about wore it out.
