Our scale: 5.0 - A song you absolutely love, one of your absolute favorites 4.0 - While not quite top-tier, a song you enjoy a lot 3.0 - Not a favorite, but you basically like it 2.0 - A "meh" song, you could take it or leave it 1.0 - Yikes! Turn that song off! **************************************************** Owner of A Lonely Heart - Yes 4.25 (reminds me so much of high school. Hard to believe it's 25 years old already!) Chapel of Love - Dixie Cups 2.5 Thunder Island - Jay Ferguson 4.15 Downtown - Petula Clark 3.75 Walk the Dinosaur - Was (Not Was) 1.8 (I kinda liked this at one time, and have the 45. I'm not as fond of it now, though) I Got A Name - Jim Croce 5.0 (my favorite by Jim - love it!) Hawaii Five-O - Ventures 4.0 I Made It Through the Rain - Barry Manilow 3.0 (not bad, but he had better ones) Take A Chance on Me - ABBA 4.25 Good Luck Charm - Elvis Presley 3.5 Like A Rock - Bob Seger 2.0 (I like Bob's '70s music, but I'm still very tired of this one, due to the commercial) Penny Lane - Beatles 5.0 (among the first Beatles songs I knew. Still a fave!) Rock Me Gently - Andy Kim 4.5 Caribbean Queen - Billy Ocean 3.5 Emotional Rescue - Rolling Stones 2.75 (have warmed up a little to this over the years, but it's still far from being among my favorites)

Owner of A Lonely Heart - Yes 3.0 (I love "Yes", but this song reminds me of a lonely time in my life. It's weird how songs can do that to you.) Chapel of Love - Dixie Cups 2.0 Thunder Island - Jay Ferguson 3.0 (It's pretty cool. I'm not too familiar with this one.) Downtown - Petula Clark 4.0 (This just makes me want to put on some go-go boots and hail a cab. Walk the Dinosaur - Was (Not Was) 1.0 (I'm trying to appreciate music from that era.....I'm really trying. It's tough.) I Got A Name - Jim Croce 4.7 (My fave from Jim, too. Time in a Bottle is good, but this one is much more upbeat. I recently rediscovered this childhood fave on a comp. CD called "Lava Love". Hawaii Five-O - Ventures 4.5 (Happy memories of my folks watching this show as a young un.) I Made It Through the Rain - Barry Manilow 3.0 Take A Chance on Me - ABBA 4.0 (ABBA is totally my childhood.) Good Luck Charm - Elvis Presley 3.0 Like A Rock - Bob Seger 2.0 (Like Dawn, this reminds me too much of the commercial.) Penny Lane - Beatles 5.0 (Oh yeah!) Rock Me Gently - Andy Kim 4.0 Caribbean Queen - Billy Ocean 3.0 (I heard Peter Tork say, as he was guest DJ-ing not too long ago on Sirius Radio, that this was his favorite song. I've also heard him say that "Life In The Fast Lane" was his favorite, too....so who knows....) Emotional Rescue - Rolling Stones 2.0 (This one always gave me the creeps for some reason.)

Owner of a Lonely Heart - Yes 4.0 This was a #1 hit when I was in seventh grade. My junior high years weren't particularly great for me. However, I loved this song. I realize some people look down on this song, because they felt Yes sold out, in order to be on top 40 radio. I still believe the song holds up very well. Chapel of Love - Dixie Cups 3.0 Nice slice of pop production from the early sixties. Thunder Island - Jay Ferguson 3.0 I think this was a one-hit wonder. Not one you hear that often anymore. Downtown - Petula Clark 2.75 It's all right, but it sounds too dated for my taste. Walk The Dinosaur - Was (Not Was) 3.5 I actually bought this CD when I was in high school. More of a guilty pleasure. The other songs on the CD are much better than the single. I Got A Name - Jim Croce 5.0 As I get older, I appreciate the craft of the singer-songwriters of the 70's. My buddy Pete had an interesting observation on the guitar riff on this song. It bears a resemblance to "Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots. I'm not sure if it was intentional or coincidence. Hawaii Five-0 Ventures 2.75 Never a huge fan of this group. However, I enjoy this theme song to the TV show. I Made It Through The Rain 2.75 Not a bad song, but Manilow has better hits. Take A Chance On Me - ABBA 4.5 Their second biggest hit in the U.S. I actually prefer it over Dancing Queen! Good Luck Charm - Elvis Presley 2.50 Not too familiar with this one. It probably didn't stand out enough. Like A Rock - Bob Seger 2.75 I liked this when I was growing up, but now it reminds too much pickup trucks. Penny Lane - Beatles 4.25 Love the production on this track. The french horn solo is my favorite part. A precursor to Sgt. Pepper's. Rock Me Gently - Andy Kim 4.25 Reminds of when I was little. Great bubblegum from 1974! Caribbean Queen - Billy Ocean 4.0 My second favorite Billy Ocean song. I was more partial to his dance music. Emotional Rescue - Rolling Stones 1.0 Even as kid, I felt Mick Jagger sounded like a dweeb on this cut. >:(Mick & Keith should have burned the lyric sheets and started over again!

Owner of A Lonely Heart - Yes 4.0 Always liked it some. It's been growing on me a lot more in the past couple of years.
Chapel of Love - Dixie Cups 1.5 Terrible song. Maybe among the 10 worst songs to get to #1.
Thunder Island - Jay Ferguson 3.8 Good one.
Downtown - Petula Clark 3.5 Loved it back in the day, but it's gotten warn out, IMO.
Walk the Dinosaur - Was (Not Was) 1.0 No thank you!
I Got A Name - Jim Croce 4.4 In my top 3 by Jim, and in my top 500
Hawaii Five-O - Ventures 3.5 Fine instrumental
I Made It Through the Rain - Barry Manilow 3.1 I like a lot of Barry, but this is close to (but not in) my bottom 5 by him.
Take A Chance on Me - ABBA 3.2 Never got that excited about Abba. Pleasant music, but that's about it.
Good Luck Charm - Elvis Presley 2.8 Weak effort by Skinny Elvis
Like A Rock - Bob Seger 2.5 The commercial ruined this in my mind also.
Penny Lane - Beatles 4.0 Good one!
Rock Me Gently - Andy Kim 3.2 Not a huge fan, and this was overplayed. - But it is catchy.
Caribbean Queen - Billy Ocean 2.0 Never liked this one.
Emotional Rescue - Rolling Stones 2.9 Not that bad, but I prefer earlier Stones.

I'm guessing the Stones were trying to sound "trendy" at the time, but unfortunately in this case it didn't work very well. I'm glad they returned to a more classic sound with Tattoo You.

Lava Love - that's a very cool name for a CD compilation! That's interesting about Caribbean Queen being Peter's favorite song - would never have guessed that!

I agree that the '83 Yes album has held up well. It was a bit more commercial than their earlier work, but still sounds very fresh and unique. Rock Me Gently brings back memories of childhood for me, too. It's such a catchy little song, I can see why it was a big hit back then.

I've heard it many times over the years, but will never tire of it. I think Bob Seger made a mistake when he allowed Like A Rock to be used in those Chevy truck commercials. That's what it will always be remembered for, and not in a good way.

I'd love to hear A Sign of the Times or This is My Song more, but no one plays those these days it seems. Same here about the Barry song. It's not bad, but sounds a little bit "phoned-in" compared to some of his other hits.
