More songs to consider and rate. Our scale: 5.0 - A song you absolutely love, one of your absolute favorites 4.0 - While not quite top-tier, a song you enjoy a lot 3.0 - Not a favorite, but you basically like it 2.0 - A "meh" song, you could take it or leave it 1.0 - Yikes! Turn that song off! **************************************************** Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? - Chicago 5.0 (one of my favorites from the band. Wonderful horn arrangement) Puff the Magic Dragon - Peter, Paul & Mary 3.5 (this song used to upset me when I was a kid, as I misunderstood the lyrics at first and thought that Jackie Paper had died. Even now, it's still sad!) I Ran (So Far Away) - A Flock of Seagulls 3.75 Baby Come Back - Player 4.5 Good Lovin' - Young Rascals 3.25 (not a bad song, but a bit overexposed) The Lady in Red - Chris DeBurgh 1.25 Carefree Highway - Gordon Lightfoot 4.0 The Last Time - Rolling Stones 4.2 (one of the very first songs I remember hearing. My parents had the Out of Our Heads album) You Belong to the City - Glenn Frey 2.9 (at one time I would have rated this a bit higher) Summer Breeze - Seals & Crofts 5.0 1-2-3 - Len Barry 3.5 Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny) - Elton John 4.0 (very nice tribute to John Lennon; haven't heard this in a long time) You Take My Breath Away - Rex Smith 2.8 Tequila - Champs 3.5 We Got the Beat - Go-Gos 4.0

Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? - Chicago 5.0 The 8 track of that Greatest Hits album was played many, many times around our house (especially by me lol ) in the 70's. Puff the Magic Dragon - Peter, Paul & Mary 4.2 I agree, Dawn, there is just something
about this song that to this day, I still find very sad. I Ran (So Far Away) - A Flock of Seagulls 2.5 Baby Come Back - Player 5.0 Good Lovin' - Young Rascals 4.8 The Lady in Red - Chris DeBurgh 1.20 Carefree Highway - Gordon Lightfoot 4.9 The Last Time - Rolling Stones 5.0 You Belong to the City - Glenn Frey 3.0 Summer Breeze - Seals & Crofts 5.0 Just great! 1-2-3 - Len Barry 4.5 Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny) - Elton John 4.0 A very well done tribute. Elton has mentioned in interviews that only on very rare occasions has he performed this song live, because (for obvious reasons) it's very emotional for him. You Take My Breath Away - Rex Smith 2.2 Tequila - Champs 4.3 I remember first hearing this when I was very young. We Got the Beat - Go-Gos 4.8 I still like this a lot.

Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? - Chicago 5.0 (One of my faves from Chicago, too. This, and admittedly, "Saturday in the Park".) Puff the Magic Dragon - Peter, Paul & Mary 2.5 I Ran (So Far Away) - A Flock of Seagulls 3.0 (Good song, but very overplayed in its day.) Baby Come Back - Player 4.0 (I love the new mop commercial featuring this song.) Good Lovin' - Young Rascals 3.5 The Lady in Red - Chris DeBurgh 1.0 (This song is so draining.....I feel like taking a nap after hearing it.) Carefree Highway - Gordon Lightfoot 4.0 (Ah......the sound of my childhood.. I'm riding in the back of my mom's Chevy station wagon with the black vinyl seats and hurking big seatbelts that we never used because they were too cumbersome..... Hey, it was the 70s, man! The Last Time - Rolling Stones 3.0 You Belong to the City - Glenn Frey 2.0 Summer Breeze - Seals & Crofts 5.0 (Love love love this song!) 1-2-3 - Len Barry 4.0 (A great oldies station staple) Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny) - Elton John 2.0 You Take My Breath Away - Rex Smith 3.0 Tequila - Champs 3.5 We Got the Beat - Go-Gos 3.0

Forgot to do this earlier, and don't have much time.... Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? - Chicago 3.6 Good song! Puff the Magic Dragon - Peter, Paul & Mary 3.3 Jackie Paper didn't die; he just rolled up the magic drag-in! I Ran (So Far Away) - A Flock of Seagulls 3.0 Okay Baby Come Back - Player 3.5 Decent Good Lovin' - Young Rascals 3.2 Got a bit tired of it back in the day The Lady in Red - Chris DeBurgh 2.0 I liked it the first 5 times I heard it. Unfortunately, that took place probably in the first 24 hours of hearing it. Carefree Highway - Gordon Lightfoot 4.2 Love It! The Last Time - Rolling Stones 4.2 Early Stones rule! You Belong to the City - Glenn Frey 2.7 Weak effort, IMO. As you know I usually love anything associated with the Eagles. Summer Breeze - Seals & Crofts 3.3 Just not a fan of their work. 1-2-3 - Len Barry 2.8 Eh. Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny) - Elton John 3.2 Decent You Take My Breath Away - Rex Smith 1.7 Ugh Tequila - Champs 3.8 Great instrumental classic We Got the Beat - Go-Gos 3.1 Decent

That's interesting about the Dead covering Good Lovin' - I hadn't known that.

That Chicago Greatest Hits is so great, I agree. I had the cassette as a teen, and just about wore it out from playing it so much. Yes, I can see how it would be very emotional for Elton to perform that song, considering how close he and John were.

I love his earlier hit, Don't Pay the Ferryman, but this song just sounded tired and limp even when it was new. My dad had a Ford LTD station wagon for a while in the mid '70s that he used as a company car. I used to love riding in it!

I like a few of their solo hits, especially Dirty Laundry and The One You Love, but definitely prefer their work with the Eagles. Here's a link to You Take My Breath Away: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YO5eAwTnZ40 . It's not a bad song, but compared to many others that were popular at the time, it falls short.

It seemed like it was constantly on the radio. I like the sax in You Belong to the City, but I agree that it isn't among Glenn's best work.
