First, I want to say thanks to Daniel and Juggie for joining us the last round, and to all of you for responding to these. It's been really cool comparing our thoughts on these songs - hope you are enjoying the posts as well! Our scale: 5.0 - A song you absolutely love, one of your absolute favorites 4.0 - While not quite top-tier, a song you enjoy a lot 3.0 - Not a favorite, but you basically like it 2.0 - A "meh" song, you could take it or leave it 1.0 - Yikes! Turn that song off! **************************************************** Anticipation - Carly Simon 4.0 (reminds me of the old '70s ketchup commercials. Always liked this one) Hey Little Cobra - Rip Chords 3.0 Love Touch - Rod Stewart 2.5 (I used to like this a little more, but it hasn't aged as well as his earlier stuff) The Show Must Go On - Three Dog Night 5.0 (my favorite of their songs. Brings back vivid memories of childhood) Little Darlin' - Diamonds 3.0 These Boots are Made for Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra 3.25 Rock Me Amadeus - Falco 3.75 (does this take me back to my senior year of high school! But, it's gotta be the "history" version, with all the dates. On the 45 I have, it's called the Canadian edit) Jet Airliner - Steve Miller Band 3.5 Time of the Season - Zombies 4.75 I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love - Chicago 1.5 (great as their earlier stuff was, they had definitely "jumped the shark" by this time) Still the One - Orleans 3.5 Uptight (Everything's Alright) - Stevie Wonder 4.25 For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton 2.5 With Your Love - Jefferson Starship 4.5 (great mellow '70s pop) Sunshine of Your Love - Cream 4.0 (will forever remind me of an early Wonder Years episode!)

Anticipation - Carly Simon 1.0
Hey Little Cobra - Rip Chords 3.0 (the snake charmers' theme song)
Love Touch - Rod Stewart 1.5 (and to think he was once one of the greatest male voices in rock)
The Show Must Go On - Three Dog Night 1.0 (The Circus March? Now that's cheesy! ;D)
Little Darlin' - Diamonds 3.0
These Boots are Made for Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra 4.0
Rock Me Amadeus - Falco 2.5
Jet Airliner - Steve Miller Band 1.5 (didn't like him much after "Sailor", except for "Wild Mountain Honey")
Time of the Season - Zombies 3.0 (everyone says this is their great classic - had they omitted the vocals and words I'd like it better)
I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love - Chicago 1.0 (well you'll just have to)
Still the One - Orleans 3.5
Uptight (Everything's Alright) - Stevie Wonder 5.0 (a masterpiece)
For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton 3.0 (I believe the only Bond theme song performer to appear in the title credits)
With Your Love - Jefferson Starship 2.0 (Jeff Airplane should never be mellow))
Sunshine of Your Love - Cream 5.0 ()

Anticipation - Carly Simon 1.0 Hey Little Cobra - Rip Chords 3.0 (the snake charmers' theme song) Love Touch - Rod Stewart 1.5 (and to think he was once one of the greatest male voices in rock) The Show Must Go On - Three Dog Night 1.0 (The Circus March? Some of Steve's best songs are deeper album cuts that you don't hear as often. LOL about I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love! Whenever I listen to their Very Best Of: Only the Beginning CD, I end up skipping pretty much everything after Along Comes a Woman (and even that hasn't held up too well).

This is the first I've seen these! Where have I been? LOL
Anticipation - Carly Simon 2.5 Carly's done so many more better tunes.
Hey Little Cobra - Rip Chords 3.0
Love Touch - Rod Stewart 3.25 Not one of Rod's better hits, but it's nice to listen to.
The Show Must Go On - Three Dog Night 4.25
Little Darlin' - Diamonds N/A I don't recall this one...
These Boots are Made for Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra 4.75 Would've got 5, but Jessica Simpson's version (and Nancy letting her record it) make it drop a bit.
Rock Me Amadeus - Falco 3.75 1.0 Could never EVER stand this one! Cheesy to the max!
Jet Airliner - Steve Miller Band 4.0
Time of the Season - Zombies 5.0 Absolutely love this one!
I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love - Chicago 1.75
Still the One - Orleans 3.0
Uptight (Everything's Alright) - Stevie Wonder 4.5 Has Stevie ever made a BAD song?
For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton 3.0 The song was meh, but because the movie itself was awesome, it balances itself out.
With Your Love - Jefferson Starship 3.5
Sunshine of Your Love - Cream 3.75 I remember that Wonder Years show too!

Anticipation - Carly Simon 3.5 It makes me think of Heinz Ketchup also. -- But it IS a good song.
Hey Little Cobra - Rip Chords 3.3 Beach Boy wannabees. But it brings back memories of college days.
Love Touch - Rod Stewart 2.5 He's done much better, many times.
The Show Must Go On - Three Dog Night 3.6 I love 3DN. This one is somewhat below their top tier, however.
Little Darlin' - Diamonds 4.4 Top 500, and one of my top 10 fave doo wop songs.
These Boots are Made for Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra 3.4 Despite the fact that she couldn't really sing well - she could SING!!
Rock Me Amadeus - Falco 2.0 Yuck!
Jet Airliner - Steve Miller Band 2.7 Sounds just like a half dozen other Steve Miller songs.
Time of the Season - Zombies 4.1 This is going to probably not make my top 500. Their other two big hits (She's Not There and Tell Her No) are in.
I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love - Chicago 3.0 I don't know why everyone hates the later Chicago songs. They weren't bad; they were different.
Still the One - Orleans 3.0 Overplayed.
Uptight (Everything's Alright) - Stevie Wonder 3.4 Good song - but the interesting thing was that when it came out, "uptight" meant cool, great, suoer. Within a month, the slang of the day transsformed uptight to mean stressed, worried, unsatisfactory. It totally - unintentionally - changed the meaning of the song.
For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton 2.2 Feh. (Kinda like meh, only different.)
With Your Love - Jefferson Starship 3.6 Good song, but from that time period, I prefer "Miracles."
Sunshine of Your Love - Cream 3.8 When I hear the words "classic rock" I think of this song.

Anticipation - Carly Simon 4.0 (I get the ketchup memories, too!)
Hey Little Cobra - Rip Chords 3.0
Love Touch - Rod Stewart (I don't know this one and it's not on YT. Rats.)
The Show Must Go On - Three Dog Night 3.0 (Don't laugh, but when I hear this, I can only think of Leo Sayer.....on, you guessed it.....the Muppet Show.)
Little Darlin' - Diamonds 3.0
These Boots are Made for Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra 3.0 (Can't help from thinking of Austin Powers and the chicks with the guns in their "jumblies".....)
Rock Me Amadeus - Falco 2.0 (This song always annoyed me for some reason.)
Jet Airliner - Steve Miller Band 4.0 (Great song, even if it's overplayed....)
Time of the Season - Zombies 5.0 (Awesome! My favorite from the Z's)
I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love - Chicago 2.0 (I really only like Chicago from the 70s when they were all about the horns...)
Still the One - Orleans 4.0 (Happy song!)
Uptight (Everything's Alright) - Stevie Wonder 4.5 (I love me some Stevie! I can't listen to this without doing a full body shimmy.)
For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton 1.0 (Pretty song.....but after hearing it a million times in the early 80s, I couldn't break free of it.)
With Your Love - Jefferson Starship 3.5 (Easy, breezy, beautiful......)
Sunshine of Your Love - Cream 5.0 (Far out and groovy!)

Anticipation - Carly Simon 4.0 Reminds me of when I was small. Carly is a great songwriter. Hey Little Cobra - Rip Cords 3.0 Love Touch - Rod Stewart 1.5 Rod is a great singer-songwriter. He didn't write this one. This was from a real stinker of a movie "Legal Eagles". Maybe that's why I don't like most of his stuff after 1985. The Show Must Go On - Three Dog Night 2.75 There are better songs from these guys. Little Darlin' - Diamonds 2.75 These Boots Are Made For Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra 2.0 Too dated. It didn't improve when Jessica Simpson rerecorded it. Rock Me Amadeus - Falco 3.0 I agree. I enjoy the history lesson version as well. Falco's second hit "Vienna Calling" is better and often is overlooked. Jet Airliner - Steve Miller Band 3.5 I Don't Want To Live Without Your Love - Chicago 2.5 Chicago seemed to lose their groove in the 80's. Time of The Season - Zombies 3.5 Still the One - Orleans 3.5 Great 70's pop. With Your Love - Jefferson Starship 4.0 I'll take this song over some the 80's overproduced Starship stuff. Sunshine of Your Love - Cream 4.5 Eric Clapton when he was young and hungry. Uptight - Stevie Wonder 4.75 Stevie hadn't had a big hit in four years. This was his way of saying "I'm Back"!

She should have left well enough alone! I agree - there are very few clunkers in Stevie's catalog. He's been very consistently good over the entire span of his career.

I always wondered about that, because given today's meaning of the word, it didn't really fit with the song. It's amazing how things can change so much, and so quickly. I agree about Sunshine of Your Love being the perfect example of classic rock. Great track!

I really like the Jefferson Starship '70s songs as well. That mellow pop style was a great fit for them, especially Marty Balin's vocals.

I must have missed that episode of the Muppet Show with Leo - would have liked to have seen that! I like Leo's version too, but will always be partial to 3DN's version. Time of the Season is my favorite Zombies song, too. They had a lot of great ones, but there's something about that song that's extra special.
