Our scale: 5.0 - A song you absolutely love, one of your absolute favorites 4.0 - While not quite top-tier, a song you enjoy a lot 3.0 - Not a favorite, but you basically like it 2.0 - A "meh" song, you could take it or leave it 1.0 - Yikes! Turn that song off! **************************************************** Little Jeannie - Elton John 4.0 (one of my favorites of his '80s hits. I remember hearing this a lot back in summer '80) Three Times A Lady - Commodores 3.0 You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' - Righteous Brothers 3.25 (I remember my parents had a reissue 45 of this song, with (You're My) Soul and Inspiration on the flip side) Don't Talk to Strangers - Rick Springfield 4.5 (probably my favorite from him. Both times I've seen him live, this was a big hit with the audience!) I Go Crazy - Paul Davis 4.5 (the very definition of great mellow '70s pop) Both Sides Now - Judy Collins 3.75 Wishing Well - Terence Trent D'Arby 1.5 (Sign Your Name is ok, but I never warmed up to this one as much. Overplay back in the day didn't help matters) Then Came You - Dionne Warwick & the Spinners 4.0 Bye Bye Love - Everly Brothers 3.0 Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - Animals 4.0 (I knew the Santa Esmeralda disco remake before this one!) Promises, Promises - Naked Eyes 5.0 (absolutely love this, especially the guitar. Big favorite from my high school days) Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band 4.0 (I had no idea what was meant by an "afternoon delight" as a kid, but I always liked the song when I heard it on the radio. Still do!) Grazing in the Grass - Friends of Distinction 4.0 (groovy little number) How Will I Know - Whitney Houston 1.5 Reunited - Peaches & Herb 3.5

Little Jeannie - Elton John 3.0 () Three Times A Lady - Commodores 1.0 (better give up after three times then ) You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' - Righteous Brothers 1.0 (naturally it would be their most popular so I hear this on oldies radio and not their other songs) Don't Talk to Strangers - Rick Springfield (don't know) I Go Crazy - Paul Davis 4.5 (great! like the song and the singing) Both Sides Now - Judy Collins 4.5 (first time I heard Judy- had yet to hear Joni) Wishing Well - Terence Trent D'Arby (don't know) Then Came You - Dionne Warwick & the Spinners 2.0 Bye Bye Love - Everly Brothers 3.0 (Simon & Garfunkel attempted this on their last LP) Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - Animals 4.5 () Promises, Promises - Naked Eyes 4.0 () Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band 1.5 (it's tea and scones at the Ritz!) Grazing in the Grass - Friends of Distinction 4.0 (do like it better than the Masakela version- less cowbell! ) How Will I Know - Whitney Houston 1.5 Reunited - Peaches & Herb 2.5 (in pictures, it looks like Herb is always the same, but there's a different Peaches for each single)

Great picks again, Dawn. Some heavy hitters here. Little Jeanie - Elton John 3.75 One of Elton's better tunes from the 80's. Three Times A Lady - Commodores 3.5 Nice song. But I tend to enjoy "Sweet Love" and "Sail On" as far as the Lionel Richie ballads go. You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling - Righteous Brothers 3.0 Great vocals. Phil Spector at his peak. But this one is overplayed! Don't Talk To Strangers - Rick Springfield 3.5 Liked it better as a kid. But I don't turn it off when I hear it. I Go Crazy - Paul Davis 3.0 Both Sides Now - Judy Collins 3.75 Great voice. Sadly, I don't hear it that often anymore. Wishing Well - Terence Trent D'arby 2.75 I owned the tape in high school. At the time D'arby thought his debut was better than Sgt. Pepper. As Dr. Phil would say: "How's that working for you?" Then Came You - Dionne Warwick & the Spinners 4.5 My Mom bought this 45 for me as a kid. It still holds special memories. Bye Bye Love - Everly Brothers 3.25 I've always loved their harmonies. Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - Animals 4.0 Eric Burdon has such passion when he belts this one out! Promises Promises - Naked Eyes 4.5 A favorite from my junior high days. Afternoon Delight - Starlight Vocal Band 2.75 I forgot how racy this song was until I paid more attention to the lyrics. Decent, but not a favorite. Grazing in the Grass - Friends of Distinction 4.5 Love late 60's soul! ;D How Will I Know - Whitney Houston 3.75 There are only a handful of songs I like by Whitney. This is one of her more energetic songs. ;D Reunited - Peaches & Herb 3.75 Why does Peaches always get the pink slip every ten years!

Three Times A Lady - Commodores 3.0 I still remember hearing this back in '78 riding along in the car on my way to Summer school. You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' - Righteous Brothers 3.25 It's overplayed, but still good. Don't Talk to Strangers - Rick Springfield 4.5 Really good! I still remember hearing it on the radio, when it was current. I Go Crazy - Paul Davis 4.0 Yup, I agree, mellow, laid back pop. Both Sides Now - Judy Collins 3.75 Wishing Well - Terence Trent D'Arby 1.5 I seem to remember there being quite a buzz about him, I was never crazy about it, then he seemed to disappear. Then Came You - Dionne Warwick & the Spinners 4.0 Bye Bye Love - Everly Brothers 4.0 Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - Animals 4.0 Dawn I was the opposite, heard The Animals first. Promises, Promises - Naked Eyes 4.5 Me too Dawn, along with "Always Something There To Remind Me." I remember seeing the video for this on Friday Night Videos Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band 4.0 Dawn I also had no idea what was meant by an "afternoon delight" at the time, I always sang along with it on the radio. Grazing in the Grass - Friends of Distinction 4.0 I can dig it! How Will I Know - Whitney Houston 1.5 Noooooo! "runs screaming from room" Reunited - Peaches & Herb 3.5

Little Jeannie - Elton John 3.0 Not one of his better efforts
Three Times A Lady - Commodores 3.0 Ok to listen to every once in a while
You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' - Righteous Brothers 4.0 Yeah it's overplayed and it's used over & over again in movies, but it's still a great song
Don't Talk to Strangers - Rick Springfield 3.0
I Go Crazy - Paul Davis 2.5 Still don't like it much
Both Sides Now - Judy Collins 4.5 Love it
Wishing Well - Terence Trent D'Arby 2.5 Not so bad, just got real tired of hearing on the radio all the time
Then Came You - Dionne Warwick & the Spinners 3.0 Loses .5 because of Ms. Warwick (not much of a fan of her)
Bye Bye Love - Everly Brothers 3.5 Fun oldie
Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - Animals 4.0 The Santa Esmeralda version isn't awful (I had a roommate that played it all the time). But on the other had, it wasn't the Animals either. There version is amazing.
Promises, Promises - Naked Eyes 3.0 Just kinda ok
Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band 4.5 Great song
Grazing in the Grass - Friends of Distinction 4.0 You're right Dawn, this is a groovy little number
How Will I Know - Whitney Houston 1.0 Nope
Reunited - Peaches & Herb 4.0 Another song I remember from my first tour in England. I think this was a top ten song. Good one.

Little Jeannie - Elton John 3.2 Ok I guess. Three Times A Lady - Commodores 3.2 Getting a little tired of this You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' - Righteous Brothers 5.0 I know it's overplayed. But I still remember when it was new, and far, far more intricate than any other pop or rock song I had heard to date, and I couldn't stop listening to it. I love this song! My #2 song of all time! Don't Talk to Strangers - Rick Springfield 3.5 Who is Rick Springfield? ;D I Go Crazy - Paul Davis 4.0 Although I prefer '65 Love Affair, this is a great song. Both Sides Now - Judy Collins 3.0 This is such a good song, but it still reminds me of an old girlfriend of whom I do not exactly have fond memories. Wishing Well - Terence Trent D'Arby 1.8 Nah Then Came You - Dionne Warwick & the Spinners 2.9 I really like ma couple of Dionne songs, and several Spinners songs. This one does not make the cut. Bye Bye Love - Everly Brothers 3.7 Great classic '50s oldie/ Great classic '50s memories. (I sang this at my summer camp talent show in '57. ;D Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - Animals 3.5 Good one, but Eric and the boys after "House..." did about 5 songs that all sounded like one another. Promises, Promises - Naked Eyes 3.0 Just OK in my book Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band 5.0 C'mon guys! Summer '76. Nancy and I were engaged, and unlike some of you who were very young at the time, we knew exactly what the song was about! #5 all time on my list! Grazing in the Grass - Friends of Distinction 3.0 It was OK, but not nearly as cool as their great follow-up Goin' in Circles. How Will I Know - Whitney Houston 0.7 I don't like the song: Means I'd give it a 2.0. I don't like Whitney; means I subtract 1.0; Our old Rabbitty friend loves it - subtract another 0.3. ;D Reunited - Peaches & Herb 3.4 Good song, but they weren't REALLY reunited. Herb went and got himself a new Peaches.

One of these days I'd like to look into some of her albums. I think I prefer this version of Grazing in the Grass to Hugh Masekela's also.

Sweet Love is a good song as well, one that should be played more often. LOL about Wishing Well! Yes, it seemed like Terence thought a little too highly of his talent back then. To compare his debut to an album as groundbreaking as Pepper was arrogant, to say the least.

If only today's radio were a fraction that good! LOL - I used to sing along with Afternoon Delight too at the time it was popular!
