Our scale: 5.0 - A song you absolutely love, one of your absolute favorites 4.0 - While not quite top-tier, a song you enjoy a lot 3.0 - Not a favorite, but you basically like it 2.0 - A "meh" song, you could take it or leave it 1.0 - Yikes! Turn that song off! **************************************************** Something - Beatles 4.75 (George had fully blossomed as a talented songwriter by this time. My favorite track from Abbey Road) In Too Deep - Genesis 1.85 (definitely a step down from their earlier material) Driver's Seat - Sniff 'n the Tears 4.75 (I always crank this up! Great road song) Kentucky Woman - Neil Diamond 3.5 Joanna - Kool & the Gang 3.0 I'd Really Love to See You Tonight - England Dan & John Ford Coley 4.5 Dandelion - Rolling Stones 4.25 (I remember getting the 45 at a used record shop in '89 or so, and playing it over and over. It's still one of my Stones faves) Anything for You - Gloria Estefan 2.0 (some of her ballads seemed very similar) Baby, What A Big Surprise - Chicago 3.75 (a notch down from their earlier stuff, but still good) What Becomes of the Brokenhearted - Jimmy Ruffin 3.25 We Belong - Pat Benatar 3.0 Show Me the Way - Peter Frampton 4.0 All Shook Up - Elvis Presley 3.25 If I Could Build My Whole World Around You - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell 3.5 (nice one that isn't played as often as some of their other hits) Can't Get It Out of My Head - Electric Light Orchestra 4.25

Something - Beatles [glow=red,2,300]3.75[/glow]
In Too Deep - Genesis [glow=red,2,300]3.25 (I actually kind of liked Genesis and their slower jams more than the rock and roll...although Land Of Confusion from the same album was great. Really, the entire album was wonderful)[/glow]
Driver's Seat - Sniff 'n the Tears [glow=red,2,300]3.75[/glow]
Kentucky Woman - Neil Diamond [glow=red,2,300]1.5 (There's only one Neil Diamond song I like...suffice to say, this ain't it)[/glow]
Joanna - Kool & the Gang [glow=red,2,300]2.5[/glow]
I'd Really Love to See You Tonight - England Dan & John Ford Coley [glow=red,2,300]N/A (I'd really wish I could remember the song)[/glow]
Dandelion - Rolling Stones [glow=red,2,300]4.25[/glow]
Anything for You - Gloria Estefan [glow=red,2,300]3.0 (Not terrible, but I see your point about them all sounding the same after a while.)[/glow]
Baby, What A Big Surprise - Chicago [glow=red,2,300]3.5[/glow]
What Becomes of the Brokenhearted - Jimmy Ruffin [glow=red,2,300]4.0 (And, to be honest with you, I kinda like Paul Young's version better...)[/glow]
We Belong - Pat Benatar [glow=red,2,300]4.0[/glow]
Show Me the Way - Peter Frampton [glow=red,2,300]4.0[/glow]
All Shook Up - Elvis Presley [glow=red,2,300]2.25 (I like Elvis, but again, I like so many other songs better than this one...)[/glow]
If I Could Build My Whole World Around You - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell [glow=red,2,300]3.0[/glow]
Can't Get It Out of My Head - Electric Light Orchestra [glow=red,2,300]3.5[/glow]

Dandelion - Rolling Stones 3.5 Good song, just so many other Stones songs I like so much better

Something - The Beatles 5.0 Probably my second favorite George composition during his Bealtes tenure. You could tell he was maturing as a songwriter. In Too Deep - Genesis 2.5 Nice song when I was growing up. But it hasn't aged as well for me. Driver's Seat - Sniff n' the Tears 3.0 Kentucky Woman - Neil Diamond 3.25 An underrated early tune from Neil's Bang Records period. Joanna - Kool & the Gang 3.5 I'd Really Love To See You Tonight - England Dan & John Ford Coley 4.0 One of my favorites from my youth. Dandelion - Rolling Stones 4.25 Stones go psychedelic! Anything For You - Gloria Estefan & the Miami Sound Machine 2.5 Baby, What A Big Surprise - Chicago 3.0 I prefer some of the band's other songs. What Becomes of the Brokenhearted - Jimmy Ruffin 4.0 So talented, I wonder why he didn't have more success like his brother David had with the Temptations. We Belong - Pat Benetar 3.5 I like this song. It was a change of pace for Pat. Show Me The Way - Peter Frampton 3.5 All Shook Up - Elvis Presley 3.75 I always loved Elvis early stuff. ;D If I Could Build My Whole World Around You - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell 4.0 Marvin had great chemistry with Tammi. It's a damn shame she passed away so young. Can't Get It Out of My Head - Electric Light Orchestra Not familiar with this one.

Something - Beatles 3.8 I still like it a lot, but not as much as I used to back in the day. In Too Deep - Genesis 2.4 I might have liked it more if someone other than Phil were singing. Driver's Seat - Sniff 'n the Tears 3.7 I wasn't familiar with it. I just checked it out on YouTube. I really like it! Kentucky Woman - Neil Diamond 3.7 I always loved the early Neil Diamond, when he was more of a folk-rocker than a lounge singer. This is a great song -- but in a "heard it first" reversal, I like the Deep Purple version - which I heard later - slightly better. Joanna - Kool & the Gang 3.5 Pretty, mellow sound. I'd Really Love to See You Tonight - England Dan & John Ford Coley 3.2 Decent song, but not my fave by them. Dandelion - Rolling Stones 3.6 Decent song. I like several others by them better. Anything for You - Gloria Estefan 2.6 OK, I guess. Not a fave. Baby, What A Big Surprise - Chicago 3.5 Into their transition (which never bothered me.) What Becomes of the Brokenhearted - Jimmy Ruffin 3.8 I love '60s soul ballads. This is a really good one by David Ruffin's brother. We Belong - Pat Benatar 3.6 One of her bewst, IMO. Show Me the Way - Peter Frampton 3.2 Peter is decent, but I never went ga-ga over him. Maybe because I wasn't a teenage girl in the '70s. Come to think of it, I was never a ...... All Shook Up - Elvis Presley 3.9 Great memories for me. If I Could Build My Whole World Around You - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell 3.3 Good song. Can't Get It Out of My Head - Electric Light Orchestra 4.5 Defintely in the top 500. One of my 3 faves by them.

I think it's because it sounds more like the songs on their 1983 self-titled album, which I absolutely love. Here is a video of I'd Really Love to See You Tonight:

I remember mine was kind of a swirly light blue, light purple and white pattern, very cool. Joanna is one of my lesser Kool and the Gang songs as well. It's not bad, but there are quite a few others I'd much rather hear.

I remember thinking it was "I'm not talkin' about the limit" when I was younger. Terry's death was a huge loss to Chicago. He was such a talented guitarist, and a very soulful singer, too.

Same here about Something. Everything about the song is perfectly done, and it has a great timeless quality to it. It's a shame that Tammi Terrell passed away at such a young age. I agree, she and Marvin sounded wonderful together.

Here is Can't Get It Out of My Head:
