I spent a good part of the evening scanning old summer camp pictures and emailing them to and receiving the same from two old friends from summer camp that I hadn't talked to in 53 years! One I connected up with about a month ago, and the other just this past weekend.
What a blast!!
Facebook is good for something!!!

Fifty-three years!! Wow--that's amazing. In my opinion, that's the best part of Facebook. I love "seeing" people again and exchanging messages with friends from long ago. Isn't technology a gas?

That is really cool that you were able to reconnect with your old friends!
Many of my closer friends from school and college haven't yet registered on Facebook, but I'm hoping they'll find their way there eventually. With others, it's been fun seeing what they look like now, how many kids they have, where they're living, etc.

You can search for your high school on FB and then look to see how many people have accounts from your year, from ten years earlier, from ten years later etc. The younger the class, the more people on FB. My HS class has less than 10% representation.

Ed-why you no like Facebook? I don't dislike the core facebook, Adam. I dislike the apps and the silly games that make no sense. - Like me taking an accent "quiz" and they tell me I have an Australian accent. That's just stupid! The internet already has game and quiz sites that will accurately tell you what kind of accent you have. But I love facebooks ability to let you connect with old friends. In my case, very old friends! So, Adam, do you have a page on FB?

I've come across some interesting and accurate quizzes on there, but others - yikes. I think blindfolded monkeys could do a better job. And the "Facebook has lost your such-and-such quiz result" - that's just strange.

Ed,
That's pretty cool that you were able to reconnect with old friends. So how many of your friends are married, retired or are grandparents? I have met some of my former classmates via facebook.

I love Facebook, over half my friends there are people I went to school with. It's kind of funny, a lot of them remember me as a quiet, shy person, and now I am nothing like that! The love of my middle school life, who wouldn't give me the time of day back then, is now my friend on FB! A few select others have declined my friend request, which goes to show who grew up and who didn't!

Dave, enough of my old friends are grandparents to make me jealous, especially when my son says he never wants to have kids. Most of my old HS friends are married, although one close friend is divorced and has been for over 30 years. I can think of only two of my friends who are retired, but not in a good way. One is on a disability and the other was forced to retire when he lost his job. The rest of us continue to work to rebuild our 101Ks to 401Ks again.

Now - when you say they declined your friend request, do you mean they ignored it or is there a way that someone can actually tell you on FB that they are not interested? I've had a couple people accept my friend request months after I made it - they don't get on FB much. My boss told me the other day that he FB friended a girl from HS who he always had the hots for and in their subsequent messaging, she told him she had been interested in him back then. "Great!" he says to me. "That really helps me now; I'm sure my wife would be thrilled!" LOL!
