I agree...kind of hard to believe that he'd make it on, since his biggest hit was "Mamma Said Knock You Out". The others do have a shot...I predict Kiss and Genesis will make it in...but, will it be Genesis with Peter Gabriel, or Genesis with Phil Collins, or both?

That seems to be the way the Hall usually plays it. Then, you get the entire gang on stage! I agree that Genesis and Kiss will make it.

The Hall of Fame - more so the yearly inductee process than the actual museum/exhibits - seems to become more exasperating and out of touch every year. It's frustrating to see deserving candidates go unnominated time after time, while much less worthy candidates go in. LL Cool J ahead of a group like Chicago, with dozens of albums and a 40 year recording span to their credit? Sheesh. I'm happy to see Genesis finally getting this close to being included, albeit a bit surprised, considering Jann Wenner and his like's long-time disdain for prog music and artists. Hopefully they'll be included among the actual inductees (and I agree that both the Gabriel and Collins line-ups should be represented; both were important to the group's success.)

Great to see KISS get the nod finally, I hope Peter and Ace are asked to attend after all, they are half of the classic lineup (Alice really should be in by now) as well as Chicago, Deep Purple and Badfinger. Very happy to see The Hollies nominated. Nice to see Genesis as well, from what I've read apparently the Phil Collins era lineup is the one being considered, apparently the hall does not care for the prog rock genre. Obviously, this is the reason Yes has always been passed over. LL Cool J - This is a joke right? He puts out what, one album and he's in? Gee what next, Britney and the Jonas brothers? "Stepping down off soapbox"

"Stepping down off soapbox" That's interesting - and very telling - that only the Collins era band is being considered for induction. They were more successful commercially, but it was the Gabriel era that laid the foundation for their sound. KISS, ABBA and the Hollies should have been in years ago, so I'm glad to see them getting the nod. Laura Nyro as well. I don't know enough about Jimmy Cliff to really make a call, but his nomination seems a little questionable IMO. The Chili Peppers may be deserving eventually, but I think it's too soon for them, when there are many other bands that need to go in first (the bands you mentioned Ken, plus ELO, 3DN, the Moodies, just to name a few). LL Cool J is where the Hall committee's credibility really gets thrown out the window.

My problem is that LL Cool J hasn't had enough hits for me at least to make him qualify.
I mean, a lot of people were in an uproar when Madonna was inducted recently. But, with several top selling albums, and a dozen #1 hit singles, I'd say that Madonna has earned her spot based on contributions to the charts. LL Cool J does have some musical talent, but I feel that he hasn't done enough in the music world to be fully inducted right now.

There is a pretty diverse list for the 2010 HOF. But some artists give me question. I am a fan of LL Cool J, he's been making music in the rap genre for nearly 25 years. As a rap pioneer, I can't argue with his hits or accomplishments. But since VH1 does a Hip Hop Honors, wouldn't that make more sense? ABBA are a great pop group. However, what about Chicago and Three Dog Night whom had more hits and sold more records? Red Hot Chili Peppers are still great performers and were able to fuse funk, punk and rock into their own style, but it's too soon for them to be inducted.
It's great to finally see KISS inducted. Maybe this will help open the doors for Alice Cooper, Deep Purple and Rush. Genesis had two great lead singers. While some may argue that Peter Gabriel was the more artsy member, one can't dispute Phil Collin's evolution from drummer to front man. And yes he has the vocal chops too! ;D
