I actually like this cover of "Dear Prudence". Honestly, I think it's more haunting and melancholy than the original: I've been hearing this version for years on internet radio and on Sirius First Wave. So much so, that when I got the original on CD a few years back, I was like "Hmmm. Not sure if I like the original as much any more". As for bad and/or ugly, just look to the Bee Gee's attempt at doing Sgt Pepper, and take your pick.

The only Beatle cover that I've been able to get into is Earth Wind and Fire's version of "Got To Get You Into My Life." It's a jazzy rendition that I've always liked. I'm usually not too hip on hearing other people doing Beatles songs.

I heard this version of Do You Want To Know A Secret back in 1963, probably 6-8 months before I even HEARD of the Beatles. It took me several years to get "used to" the Beatles version. I like the Beatles version better now, but I still have a soft spot for this one.
Similar story with Del Shannon's version of From Me To You
