For this MLOSAAT, I thought I'd feature one of my favorite groups of the late '70s and early '80s, The Little River Band. Although they didn't really break new musical ground during their heyday, their hits and album tracks were consistently of high quality and always enjoyable.
My favorite from the group is their first hit, "It's A Long Way There," from 1976. I have a very vivid memory of listening to this song on the radio late one Saturday night when I was 12 or 13. That wasn't the first time I'd heard the song, but it was the first time it really struck an emotional note with me. Love that guitar!
The single version is great, but the full-length album version is even better. Here it is on YouTube:

I didn't like the LRB, except for this first song of theirs. This one's great! I still have the LP with this somewhere. Went out and bought a used copy after it came out. Our underground FM station played the album version.
They got too 'easy listening' for my tastes after this.

I had only known the single edit for many years, but when I heard the album version, I was just blown away.

It's a long Way There is a great song! I remember hearing the long version when my oldest brother bought a used copy of that first album.
I decided to go with this one. I've always loved it, and one of the main reasons why, is because of those great harmonies.
When I was searching youtube to see if there was any video footage of the song, I found the original promo clip which I had never seen before, the trouble is the ending is cut off, so I picked this video instead.

Great choice, Ken! I first heard this song on their Greatest Hits album, and it immediately became a favorite.

Back in the late '70s. I had heard and was familiar with a few LRB songs, but didn't know anything about them. Then in '79, we moved to Northern Virginia, and I became familiar with a main throughfare, Rte. 236: The Little River Turnpike. So I thought they were a local group. Then I found out that Australia really isn't local.
Anyway, here's my favorite - a member of my top 500.
