Such a great singer/songwriter, who left us much too soon.
What is your favorite of Jim's songs?
I've always been partial to 1973's "I Got A Name." I got the 45 back in 1989, after not having heard the song for many years, and I remember playing it over and over. There's just something about this song that strikes a special chord with me.
Here's a great live performance of the song.

My favorite is actually a Christmas song, "It Doesn't Have To Be That Way". It's not on You Tube.

My favorite is Operator (That's Not the Way It Feels). I've seen this particular performance several times over the years on TV. Jim is backed by Maury Muehleisen his lead guitarist. (That was also Maury on Dawn's post.) Maury also lost his life along with Jim in the September '73 plane crash. Two brilliant musicians, and good friends snuffed out in an instant.

Jim was so good, and Maury was a fantastic guitar player - two amazingly talented people. It's hard to choose, but I decided to go with this!

Listening to these YouTube clips has really made me appreciate how crucial Maury was to Jim's sound. His harmonies and guitar complement Jim's so perfectly. Very sad that we lost both of them, especially at such young ages.

As a longtime fan(I'm old enough to vaguely remember seeing the report of his death on the nightly news, including the wreckage of the plane), I also found it hard to choose, but I gotta go with: IIRC, Maury was only 24.
