"Little Star" was a favorite of my parents' when I was growing up. They had a reissue 45 they used to play a lot.
Love that 1968 chart. "People Got to Be Free" was still #1 when I was born a month later, so it definitely had staying power.
I've probably mentioned this before, but a friend had a slumber party in September 1978, and I took along the 45 of "Boogie Oogie Oogie" to play. Two of my friends got into an argument over whether to listen to it or Glen Campbell's "Southern Nights" first. Seems a dumb thing to argue about in retrospect, but there's the logic of 5th grade girls for ya.
Thoughts?
