1967: Elvis Presley begins filming his 25th movie, Clambake, in Los Angeles.
I'm seeing a post like this just about every day. I have two questions: Who cares? and Why?

1956-Sammy Davis Jr. becomes an instant celebrity when he stars in "Mr. Wonderful" on Broadway. He was awesome! He was definitely quite a talent. However the statement from the link saying he became an "instant celebrity" in 1956 is incorrect. I remember Sammy appearing on Ed Sullivan and other variety shows prior to 1956. He also had some hit records in 1954 and 55. Appearing on Broadway may have raised him to new heights. But he was far too well known prior to that for the "instant celebrity" tag to work.

Love the Rutles, I remember watching that broadcast. 1961 Elvis Presley had his 7th UK No.1 single with 'Wooden Heart'. 1963 Ruby and the Romantics went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Our Day Will Come', it made No.38 in the UK. 1964 John Lennon's book of verse and rhyme 'In His Own Write' was published. 1972 The film of The Concert For Bangladesh featuring George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton premiered in New York. 1973 John Lennon was ordered to leave the US within 60 days by the immigration authorities, he began a long fight to win his 'Green Card' which he was given on 27/7/76.
