I think it means it's the flagship station among NBC affiliate stations. It would make sense for the most important station for all NBC-owned or franchised stations to be located in NYC. 1965: London session guitarist Jeff Beck joins the Yardbirds after being recommended by the group's first choice, another session man named Jimmy Page. Bunch a no-talent losers them guitarists, ya think? ;D
