1967: Jimi Hendrix plays his first British concert, on a bill with Cat Stevens, The Walker Brothers, and Englebert Humperdinck at the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park, England. (Seriously.) On a whim, Hendrix sets fire to his guitar with lighter fluid for the first time, but burns his hands so badly he is admitted to a nearby hospital. Now, that's an eclectic lineup. oldies.about.com/od/oldieshistory/a/march31.htm

I believe this is incorrect. The 7" 45 replaced the 10" 78. You'd get a single song on one side of a 10 inch 78. They did have 12" 78s, but they were used to make "albums." You'd get three (usually) discs each in its own sleeve bound into a booklike album. Playing time for the album would be similar to a standard LP (30 minutes or so.)
