The Russkies sure were obsessed with The Twist.

1962: Russia's official newspaper, Pravda, warns Soviet teens of the decadent dangers of the new "twist" dance craze.

1968: Founding member Syd Barrett, already in a mental downward spiral from LSD abuse, leaves Pink Floyd.

Yeah. I hear they never amounted to much after he left.

I always liked the story that Syd happened to show up in the recording studio when Floyd was recording - ironically - Wish You Were Here which is basically a tribute album to Syd. He had put on a lot of weight and had shaved off all the hair on his head, including his eyebrows. The band, who had not seen him in several years, did not recognize him. When they finally realized who he was, reportedly, David Gilmour was moved to tears.
