1962: Teen idol Bobby Rydell is ironically cast as Hugo Peabody in the film version of the hit Broadway musical Bye Bye Birdie.

I assume it's "ironically" because the character is a dork or something and Bobby was a teen idol. Nevertheless, I wish this website wouldn't make assumptions that their readers would know this.
