I saw on a post that LiSaPaLooZza went to Graceland. I was curious, has anybody here been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio? Tell me what it's like. I've always wanted to go.
Tell me about some of your "music destinations" that you've been to.
I went to school in England for a semester and I went on a Beatles tour of London. I saw the building where they preformed "Get Back" on the rooftop. And then we saw Abbey Road studios and of course, Abbey Road. There was a band in the studios doing some recording that day we were there, but they wouldn't say who it was.

Good topic, athompsen! I visited Nashville with a friend's family in the summer of 1980 and had a great time. I remember seeing the Country Music Wax Museum, Opryland, and Ryman Auditorium, and also a number of country stars' homes. On Saturday, we caught the first show at the Grand Ole Opry, and that was a really enjoyable experience! The Beatles tour you went on in London sounds wonderful! I've wanted to do that myself for a long time, and am planning to go in August 2006!

We drove by Graceland a long time ago - Elvis was still alive.
I did the whole thing in Nashville - twice. Once as a little kid (we took my grandparents) and then again as a country-hating teenager. My dad's union had gone on strike, and he went to Nashville to get re-certified on airplane mechanics. He got called back to work while we were down there. He finished the course and got his re-cert, but never did go back into the business.
My best friend went to the R&R Hall Of Fame (it was being built when I lived out there). She liked it for the most part but thought some of the exhibits were lame, and they won't allow you to take any pictures. Instead, you buy photos in their gift shop. Problem is, they dont' have pictures of everything, including things she wanted.
I saw some Mozart stuff in Austria, but that's about it for musical destinations.

I'm not a huge fan of country, but I would love to see it. I wish I had been around to go to the Grand Ole Opry back when Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn and artists of that ilk were playing there.

My brother and his wife went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a couple of years ago. They had the same complaint--that you couldn't take pictures. Otherwise, they liked it very much. I'd like to go someday.
I went to Nashville when I was a teenager--in fact, we were there at the same time Elvis died, in August of 1977. Wherever we went, people were crying. It was a sad time to be in Tennessee. We did manage to go to the Wax Museum, Opryland, and a few other places. We also took a tour of some homes of the Country stars. I still have pictures of those--Johnny Paycheck, Eddy Arnold, Tex Ritter, and several others that I can't think of right now. LOL!

I've been to Hard Rock Cafe's in Nashville, London, and Manama, Bahrain.
I've also been to Opryland & the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Although I've never been inside, I've driven by the Whiskey A-Go-Go in L.A. Does that count?
