Why is that when a CD is released with bonus tracks foreign countries are usually the first (or only) to get these tracks? Doesn't seem fair to me.

I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't. I mean, from a collectable standpoint, it gives you something interesting to add to your collection. But if you already have the regular copy, then you gotta spend more money!
I just recently found out that K-Mart had a bonus track on Martina's Emotion album! That pisses me off, cuz I don't have it. And I never see it on ebay.
Luckily I found out that her new album will have a bonus track through Wal-Mart, so I am excited!
Back in the earlier days of CD's, I know domestic releases had bonus tracks simply because they held more than tapes and LPs. I had Robert Plant's Now and Zen on tape a couple years before getting it on disc for the *EXCELLENT* bonus track.

I found out that Bette's new album is going to have a bonus track in the UK. I haven't confirmed this (I just "heard it through the grapevine"), but I'm trying to figure out if I should order the UK version.

It's interesting that stores are doing that now, working out deals with the record companies so they'll have an edge over the competition. I'd never heard of that practice before. The closest thing I can think of was in 1991 when Skid Row put out their second album, it contained a song called "Get The F%$# Out". Some stores wouldn't carry it, so there was a version of the lp with an entirely different song in it's place for chain stores like Wal-Mart.

I noticed that song on some used copies of Slave to the Grind! It seems like it would be a pain in the ass, pressing most copies one way, and then a handful with a bonus cut. I know when I bought my wife the Bee Gees 2 disc sets, there was 5 bonus live cuts from Target, but it was a whole separate disc. I can't imagine Martina's ONE song will be put on an entirely different disc.

I wondered about this also , and I find it unfair as well I read somwhere that they do this alot in Japan and the reason is simply because CD's are very expensive there so they do it as an incentive so the consumer will buy it.

Don't they realize by now that WE need incentives to buy albums too? I mean, they're trying to keep people from downloading songs illegally, so why not make purchasing a full album more desirable to us all?

The UK version has the song Blues in the Night, while we won't be getting that here.

Kinda makes you love the record industry even more, doesn't it? Incidentally, from what I've read, it isn't downloading music that's illegal, it's sharing music -- uploading music so others CAN download.
