Yes broke up in 1980, after doing an album with Buggles members Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes replacing Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman.
Chris Squire and Alan White released a single shortly after that. They also attempted another side project.
Anyway, in 83, they started ANOTHER project, with guitarist Trevor Rabin, and also recruited former keyboardist Tony Kaye. Squire and Rabin were gonna sing.
Eventually, they asked back original singer Anderson. They realized with so many former members, they should just call it Yes again.
Question: Before Anderson came back, what WERE they going to call the project?

I'm pretty sure that I've seen the group name mentioned somewhere in print - I admit I'm stumped .

They were going to call themselves NO.
I have no idea. I should know this though. I remember seeing it before.

Hey, Sat, I've got it. This would make a GREAT "Millionaire" question. It's "Cinema". Ironically, there WAS an unrelated (dance) act called Cinema in 1984. And hearing their 2 hits in 1984, I had the strange feeling the name for them: Beta Vox. Don't ask me why...

And hearing their 2 hits in 1984, I had the strange feeling the name for them: Beta Vox. Don't ask me why... EXCELLENT!! Instead they decided to name the instrumental that starts side 2 Cinema. You have to be a rock-n-roll expert or a die hard Yes fan to know that one!
