Current score:
Pete70s 36 55dodger 20 Sat 15 DJ Dave 14 Laura 13 Railyn 12 Rali 9 TripleJ 7 DJ's mom 5 Lora 5 Dawn 1 Everybody Else 0
OK... this one may take a while .. but then again someone may figure out the theme quickly and just take off.
This is going to be a SEVEN point game (might be the first with more than six possible points)
I will give you FOUR artists. In the right order, they will represent a progression, which is the theme. When you get the theme, the next (fifth) item in this progression is part of the title of an album. The title of the album would fit into the category "The title's IN the song!" - a post that Adam started (Read that post on the Albums Page for an explanation). However, this particular album is NOT listed in that thread.
So... you get 2 points for the theme (the progression) 1 point each for each of the four correct songs and 1 point for the name of the artist of that "Title's in the Song" album.
...and the artists:
Bread Three Dog Night Chicago The Bee Gees
good luck.... and...
Name That Theme

Here's a wild guess Bread-Guitar MAN Bee Gees-New York Mining Disaster (Have you seen my WIFE, Mr. Jones) Chicago-BABY What A Big Surprise Three Dog Night-FAMILY Of Man Can't seem to go beyond that, though... That would have made a good theme, Pete. It's not the right one, though. Remember we're looking for a progression here. The family is not a progression. -- Although I suppose we could come up with songs that have Man, then Wife, then Baby, then Baby Grows Up, goes off to College and then Grad School so parents progress to become empty nesters, then Kid comes back to live with parents while he goes to Law School, - oh never mind. That could never happen.

OK, as I thought might happen, we are getting nowhere. So time for a clue. This will drop the total value that one person can earn to 6 points.
..and the clue:
Of the four songs which are part of the progression, two are in the title, the other two are not. One of the two with the progression component in the title is by The Bee Gees.
All of the songs are in the top 40, of course, but 3 of them are in the top 20 (ranked 1-20) . And of these, one is in the top 10. (ranked 1-10).
None of Pete's four songs were correct.
Go get 'em!

Wow, good thinking! This is why I suck at this game-I NEVER know lyrics, so I would never get the Bread one. I don't even really know the song. And I have the August album, but I don't remember it being in any lyrics. See what I mean?

It could have been Counting Crows "August & Everything After", but I don't think Ed's familiar with them...

Geez! Too tough for me. See, I can't play this very often because I'm not too familiar with songs like these. 80's tunes are more my territory.

Wow, Pete! You got all except August, so you get six points, unless "August" is in the lyrics of one of the songs on the album. If it is, let me know where and you'd get the point. Actually, the point is moot - ypu can't get more than 6 points. -- but if you answer correctly on the "August" part, it would be a defensive move for you to keep someone else from moving closer.

Adam, if I gave points for each time you say you suck at the game, you'd have won already. j/k Actually, I thought that could be the Bread song could be difficult. But I thought someone would get the April May thing with th BeeGees and 3DN first, and would figure with Chicago they'd look for a month and would remember Saturday in the Park. Then the question would be, did Bread ever record a song with "June" in the lyrics? If you do a Google on Bread +June +lyrics, up pops "Aubrey"

That could be wrong, for all I know. It could have been Counting Crows "August & Everything After", but I don't think Ed's familiar with them... I actually have heard of them, and have heard a song or two by them. But from what I can see, they have an album "August & Everything After", and a song by the same title which is not in the album. - Close, but not quite what we were looking for. Still looking for the "August" album

OH! I get it! Neil Diamond-Hot August Night, making it five great early 70's acts! Yup. That's it. (I answered your other post before I saw this.) -- and I wasn''t even thinking of the fact that they're all early '70s. Good job, Pete. Six points for you. ..and the score: Pete70s 42 55dodger 20 Sat 15 DJ Dave 14 Laura 13 Railyn 12 Rali 9 TripleJ 7 DJ's mom 5 Lora 5 Dawn 1 Everybody Else 0 And suddenly it looks like the USC/Oklahoma game. Pete is running away with it He can do it with two more wins, and may do it BEFORE I'll be forced to suspend the game for a week on 1/15 when I leave for Beijing. Next game tomorrow.
