Current score: Pete70s 45 55dodger 25 Sat 15 DJ Dave 14 Laura 13 Railyn 12 Rali 9 TripleJ 7 DJ's mom 5 Lora 5 Dawn 1 Everybody Else 0 OK gang. This is a big game It'll be worth 7 points! You will get 5 artists. The correct songs will give components, which, when arranged in the correct order, will make up a familiar phrase. One point for each song, two for the phrase (which is of course, the theme) Like I said, I'm leaving for Beijing tomorrow morning, and will probably be off line as of about 11 PM tonight. If you guess it before then, great! If not, the game will continue at full value until I get back about 10 PM Saturday January 22., and have recovered sufficiently to be on line. - Might not be until sometime late Sunday ...so go ahead make guesses, talk amongst yourselves if you want, form teams ala Survivor When I get back on line I'll check answers, and give points to the first correct answer or answers. If there are none, I'll give some more clues, drop the point value to 6, and the game will proceed as usual. So..enough of my blabbing. Here are the artists: Elton John Lobo Supertramp Everly Brothers Janet Jackson Name That Theme!

Can you answer any of the following questions (as I found this a little confusing):
1) do the titles make up the actual component (like the last one where the names of the Beatles were in the titles) or is it something that evokes an image (like the song "Bus Stop" evokes the image of standing in the rain?
2) In the case of Elton John and Janet Jackson, can we exclude collaborations with other artists?
I think this one is hard enough without the above giving much away, but that's just me. Thanks!

Components can come from the titles or the lyrics (remember for the Beatles theme, George was in the lyrics). The title "Bus Stop" itself doesn't evoke images of a rainy day. That comes with the lyrics. I would generally tell you if it were a collaboration. To the best of my knowledge, these are not.

OK, it's time for me to get off line. You're on your own for the next 8 days. I'll be thinking of you while I snarf down some Peking Duck or whatever.
Good luck with the game. See ya'll in about 8 days.

OK... I am back from Beijing. Nihau. ;D
You guys are a bunch of slackers. Not a songle guess. OK. We're down to 6 points. here are some clues
Four of the five songs are top 10 songs (including a couple of number ones.) The other song, which is actually the first when put in the correct order, just missed the top 10.
.. and the phrase that is the theme is an old cliche.
Good luck.

Not getting anywhere. Gotta add a new clue - and we're down to 5 points.
The non-top 10 song is the one by Supertramp.
-- and .. another clue. The day I came back from China it was snowing -- but it wasn't the day I left.

Way to go, Pete. Though I didn't reach the summit AGAIN this time, we're still among the "all-time elite".
