Hey guys, I'm seeing that you all seem to be solving the puzzles much quicker this year than for previous games. I don't know if the games are getting easier or if you're getting smarter. The game should be decided on ability to solve puzzles and on musical knowledge and/or research. That is, it's OK to use a Whitburn or online help or whatever you choose. Ideally, it shouldn't be decided on the luck of being on line at the time the puzzle is posted. That's why I've been trying to stagger the starting time of the rounds to try and give everyone a fair chance to play, seeing that different people are on line at different times during the day. I've even tried to wait for a time when there is no one on line. -- But I think I may be being unfair to some people. And if possible, I want to "level the playing field" with regard to times that a new round is started. So --- what do you think the fairest way to run the game is? Continue to stagger the starting time without announcing what time the new round will start? Continue to stagger the starting time but tell everyone what time the new round will start beforehand? Pick one time, and start all rounds at that time? If so, what time? Other suggestions? I want to make Name That Theme a fun game for as many people as possible. No Clickster Left Behind. Your comments will be appreciated.

I think we should start all over and spot me 49 points! You know Rob, this totally off topic answer is so remeniscent of a typical response from Adam, that I wonder if either you are REALLY Adam posting under a different name - or - all of you Martina guys ar simply just wise a$$es. ;D

I think you should continue to stagger the times, but as far as letting us know about it beforehand - I don't know.
Wow, that wasn't very helpful at all was it.

Well, I don't think you need to make any changes to the game itself. These are just suggestions that would make it easier for me personally to participate, so everybody please just bear with me. For weekdays, I'd say start the game around the evening. No specific time, kinda randomly from... say 6 to 11 PM. I think just about everybody here has a PC at home. I myself don't have the luxury of surfing the internet where I work. I do have a Whitburn book (7th. edition) but for clues that include songs that I've never heard of, especially their lyrics, I get kind of stuck. I'm more of a TV junkie than a radio listener. The song era that I'm most familiar with is the 80's, but I don't know how familiar you are with that era. I'm pretty good at identifying 80's song lyrics.

Well, I'm not getting any tremendous support for starting the games at one time or another - or staggering them. Basically Kitty and Rob would like the staggered mode to continue, and John would like to see it played sometime in the evening. No one seems to indicate that I should tell anyone beforehand what time that game will start.
So what I'll do is basically continue the way I have been, but try to start more games in the evening.
And for this one time, I'll say that today's game WILL start some time between 5 PM and midnight EST.

We'll compromise. I'll give you 49 points, and you give 'em back.

While bouncing back and forth between an internship I love and I job I now despise, I'm not as able to "be on top of things" like I was last year during "Name That Theme". But I'm not really sweating it. If I win, I win, if I don't, I don't. So whatever you do is OK with me..

This really looks like a fun game. I enjoy reading the posts and am learning things from the answers.

This really looks like a fun game. I enjoy reading the posts and am learning things from the answers. I'm glad you're enjoying it DaDoo. Feel free to join in the play at any time. Even if you don't know the songs, sometimes the game evolves into a situation where the songs are known, and all that is missing is the theme. Like game #2 where Adam realized that the theme was the last four US presidents even though he didn't know the songs. So jump in anytime.

I'm normally online only in the morning & am unable to login at work. I would keep the game going as is, it seems to work ok. If I get lucky and answer one like I did yesterday, that's good.

As others have mentioned, I think the current approach of staggering the times is probably best.
