It’s time to start the new game – The Click Super Song Linking Game. It is based mainly on our most popular Song Linking Game, but has elements of Name That theme also. Here’s how it goes. Your goal is to compile a list of 10 songs and their artists. The last word of the title of Song #1 is the same word as the first word of the title of song #2, just like in the Song Linking Game. ... and the last word of song #2 is the first word of song #3, etc. I will give you the FIRST word of the title of song #1 and the LAST word of the title of song #10. I will also give you a bunch of clues about the songs and/or their artists to help you to build your list. The idea is for all you Clicksters to work TOGETHER to fill out the list. So do your thinking “out loud” within the thread so everyone can see it. From time to time I’ll add other clues. And if you’re REALLY having a hard time, I may periodically reveal a first and/or last word somewhere in the list. And all ten songs are bona fide TOP 40 hits from the Billboard “Hot 100” pop charts. (just like in Name That Theme). Songs will have been on the charts from anywhere starting in 1955 and ending in 1989. Sorry guys. No 90s or 00s. Some websites that might come in handy are: www.allmusic.com and www.gramble.com/music/top40.html So ... Here we go! Heres the opening board: Song 1. First word is Stairway: Middle words: Unknown: Last Word Unknown Song 2. Unknown Song 3: Unknown Song 4 Unknown Song 5. Unknown Song 6: Unknown Song 7 Unknown Song 8. Unknown Song 9: Unknown Song 10. First word Unknown: Middle Words: Unknown: Last word is: TodayHere are some clues: Two songs are by the same group***edit Sorry guys I screwed up on this. I attributed one song to the wrong artist. Ignore that clue A hockey team from Pennsylvania could claim to sing one of the songs. With one song you might say "wait a minute. That song was never even released as a single, let alone make the top 40." Ah, but couldn't there be another song with the same title? One artist led a Vacation group all the way to the top 10. Two of the solo artists in these songs have last names that are almost identical. .... and remember all songs are Billboard pop chart top 40 between 1955 and 1989 OK guys. Good luck! -- Remember: work togther openly on this thread

Well we are getting nowhere. You need to think "out loud" on the board and feed off eachother. Here's another clue. Of the ten songs, Three are done by male soloists (one of whom is a terrorist) Three are done by female soloists Two by a female groupedit ** based on the same mistake I made earlier, this has to be changed to:
One female group One man/woman duet **One by a male group and One by an instrumental named after its leader.

::sigh:: Ed, Ed, Ed, making us use our brains again... OK, "Stairway To Heaven" is the first song because Neil Sedaka had a hit with a different song of that name. "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" could be next, sung by the girl that led "that Vacation group" And if there's a Pennsylvania team called The Penguins, #3 could be "Earth Angel". I'll start off with that for now. Dani needs to jump on the computer for a few minutes. I'll be back.

The major problem is I didn't use my brain and gave out a wrong clue due to a brain fart in which I attributed a certain song to the wrong artist despite the fact I knew full well who did the song. The good news is it did not effect your guesses so far. And as usual there is nothing wrong with your brains. You are 100% dead on for what you have so far !! You need to go back to my original 2 posts and see the edits. So right now we have: Song 1. First word is Stairway To Heaven Neil Sedaka Song 2. Heaven Is a Place On Earth Belinda Carlisle Song 3: Earth Angel The Penguins Song 4 Angel Unknown Song 5. Unknown Song 6: Unknown Song 7 Unknown Song 8. Unknown Song 9: Unknown Song 10. First word Unknown: Middle Words: Unknown: Last word is: TodayPete used the clues perfectly so far. Remaining clues: (after the edits and eliminating those that pete already used: Two of the solo artists in these songs have last names that are almost identical. Of the remaining 7 songs: Two are done by male soloists (one of whom is a terrorist) Two are done by female soloists One is done by a female group One is done by man/woman duet and One by an instrumental named after its leader. (in no particular order) More clues to follow.

One by an instrumental named after its leader. Did Mantovani have a song called "Mantovani?" And how can we work THAT in to the game...

"Angel Of The Morning"-Juice Newton (or Merilee Rush, depending what mood you're in) "Morning Has Broken"-Yusef The Terrible You are halfway there Pete. Song 1. Stairway To Heaven Neil Sedaka Song 2. Heaven Is a Place On Earth Belinda Carlisle Song 3: Earth Angel The Penguins Song 4 Angel of the Morning - Merilee Rush (If you had been stumped, a later clue would have said that one vocalists last name was the name of a Canadian Band) Song 5. Morning Has BrokenYusaf Islam Song 6: BrokenUnknown Song 7 Unknown Song 8. Unknown Song 9: Unknown Song 10. First word Unknown: Middle Words: Unknown: Last word is: Today Clues that remain: Two of the solo artists in these songs have last names that are almost identical. And I will add We have not yet named either of these songs/artists Of the remaining 5 songs: One is done by male soloists (he is not a terrorist to the best of my knowledge) One is done by female soloists One is done by a female group One is done by man/woman duet and One by an instrumental group named after its leader. I was just thinking "I wonder if MC is going to post tonight, and you read my mind! Seriously, I figured that there would be several ways to get from 1 to 10. That was the reason for the clues, the main one of which is that all songs are billboard top 40 on the pop chart 1955-1989. The Billy Crash Craddock song does not make that, and neither does the Sinatra. Plus, you missed the terrorist. ;D But, anyway, this is the first time we've tried the game and it's still a little rough around the edges. Next time I'll have to list all the clues right from the start, and make sure I have a clue for EACH song.

And let me add another clue. The Beach Boys are not represented. But there is a definite Beach Boys connection with one of the artists.

I'm not sure how it would connect, but would Wilson Phillips be the clue that corresponds with the Beach Boy clue...since Wendy and Carnie Wilson are the daughters of Brian?

Well Wendy and Carnie are indeed Brian's daughters. And that would indeed be a Beach Boys Connection But that's not the Beach Boy connection we were looking for.

Besides, now that I realize that the cut-off of the timeline is 1989, I wouldn't have been right anyway...since "Hold On" came out in 1990.

Is Glen Campbell the Beach Boys link?
Or is a 60s surf instrumental the BB link?
The only "broken" songs I know end in "english" "arrow" and "wings", and those don't start any chart titles.
The instrumental group- is the group name based on its leader, or it a name like "Joe Jones and the Surf Punks"?
I never miss terrorists. ;D
