Read this on top40db.net. Passed on about a week ago. Best known for his 1958 #1 smash "Purple People Eater".

Born on April 10, 1921 in Erick, OK.
Hit #1 again, albeit the country chart, in 1962 with "That's My Pa".
Recorded many country parodies as "Ben Colder".
A comic will be missed.
