Huge Melissa Etheridge fan that I am, I was a little shocked when I heard this news:
Rocker Melissa Etheridge Diagnosed with Cancer
Fri Oct 8, 2004 03:05 PM ET
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rock singer Melissa Etheridge has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has cut short her North American concert tour to undergo surgery, her publicist said on Friday.
Etheridge, 43, said in a statement that the cancer was detected early and that she is "looking forward to a quick and full recovery." "I am fortunate to be under a wonderful doctor's care and thankful that this was caught early," she said. The statement said doctors described her prognosis as "excellent."
Etheridge's publicist said the recording artist has canceled the remaining 11 dates on her tour, including stops in Quebec, Washington, D.C., New York and California, to deal with her illness. Refunds for tickets to those shows can be obtained where they were purchased.
The Kansas-born singer-songwriter, known for such hits as "Come to My Window" and "I'm the Only One," has sold more than 25 million records. Her latest album, "Lucky", was released in February.

I read this the other day on MSN. I hope she has a full and speedy recovery. Thanks, Ken. I had just watched Melissa's new live concert DVD the night before reading about her diagnosis in the paper, and as I said, I was a little taken aback by the news. I hope her recovery is swift and complete.

Well, we've already talked about this Kathy. I was shocked to hear the news. I'm so glad they caught her cancer early. I'm sure Melissa will make a full recovery and keep on rockin' harder than before! I appreciate that, Lora. Melissa has a song on her new live cd/dvd called "The Good Girls and Boys". It's about following her dream of becoming a singer-songwriter, and one of the lines from it is "It was always rock and roll, and there was never really any other choice. All I ever wanted was to get into the party with the good girls and boys". I have a feeling she'll beat this and soon be back on the road and back onstage singing for the good girls and boys.
