I just saw on Billboard.com that Capitol plans to remaster the first four Beatles albums. BUT- They are the AMERICAN albums (Meet The Beatles, The Beatles Second Album, Something New, and Beatles '65), not the U.K. versions we've come to know and love in the CD age.. Apparently, they are doing a special 4 disc box that contains each album in a miniature replica of the original cover, with the album newly remastered in both stereo and mono mixes. One of the good things is that some of the mixes on the American albums were different than on the U.K. versions. But, if you've spent the past 17 years trying to forget about those 10-song American versions (which The Beatles themselves hated), you're out of luck.. Enough of my jabbering... Here's a link to the article. www.billboard.com/bb/daily/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000664137

Cool to hear this news, although it surprises me that they would remaster the American versions before the UK ones.

I read about this. It's kind of cool and hopefully it won't be too expensive.
The only thing I wondered about is why are they giving us the mono versions again when the first four british albums are already in mono (?) I would however like to have the mono mixes of Revolver and Sgt Pepper.
I would hope that somewhere down the road there will be a Volume 2.
