Many of you know that for as long as CD's have existed, there has always been speculation as to when and if the output from the Cameo/Parkway labels from the 50's and 60's would ever see CD release. Artists like Bobby Rydell and Chubby Checker have never been available in the U.S. on CD, and even though I'm not particularly a fan of those artists, I know how much of an enormous gap it is in the CD collections of oldies collectors. So it is relieving to know that Allen Klein (who owns the rights to that stuff) has FINALLY sanctioned the official release of the Cameo/Parkway singles catalog. Looking at the line-up, I'm actually pretty impressed! Not only do you get all the hits from their main artists (Rydell, Checker, Question Mark & The Mysterians) you also get and early tracks by the Five Stairsteps and Bob Seger! The Kinks "Long Tall Sally" single is included and so is "Boys" by The Pete Best Band! Check it out for yourself: www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00081U6IW/qid%3D1113961762/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/102-0658659-6283321I'm actually interested in picking this up when it comes out, if I can get it cheap enough.

Thought I'd died and gone to heaven! Not since Rhino's 80's box set in 2002 have I been waiting for such a release!!! I do have some boot of original Rydell recordings (30 tracks), but this will be SOOOO GREAT!!! AT LAST!!! The original recordings of 96 tears and The Twist on CD!!! (Not to mention other artists devoid in my CD collection like the Orlons) (Oddly, I do have three Cam/Park recordings on CD compilations--"Silhouettes"-Rays, "So much in love"-Tymes, and "Cast your fate to the wind"-Sounds Orchestral)
WOOOO HOOO!!!!!!!!
