Today, (Oct. 1, 2007) is "Rally Monday" in Boston. It is a tradition in all cities whose major league baseball teams are heading for the playoffs. (Presumably, the same thing is happening in Cleveland, Anaheim, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago [congrats, Adam!], and Phoenix as well. The NL Wild Card winner is being decided tonight in Denver in a game between San Diego and The Rockies) Among the bands playing in the Boston celebration at The City Hall Plaza will be The Standells, the band that had a big hit back in 1966 with "Dirty Water." "Dirty Water," long a local anthem in Boston, is traditionally played after every home Red Sox win. GO RED SOX !!

There was a band in the '80s--I think they were called the Inmates--that did a remake of that song. Their FIRST version said "London, you're my home", but they had different versions for different cities, including St. Louis.

The Inmates did a great version - I have it on 45 plus I have their first two albums - First Offence from 1979 and A Shot in The Dark from 1980.
