725. HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF-Duran Duran (83) (#-3-B'board, #3--DJD) (87 rank-630)
I think most everyone knows this, with mostly some positive comments. Actually was NOT familiar with the name (I never watched much MTV) "Duran Duran" until this song hit in late 1982. But I quickly got to really like their music! Their first big US hit, and what a great one!
724. LET’S DO IT AGAIN-Staple Singers (75) (#-1-1 wk-B'board, #1-2 wks--DJD) (87 rank-513)
Though known much more today for their other #1 "I'll take you there", I've always loved this somewhat groover more. From the little-known film of the same name. RIP Pops.
723. I JUST WANNA STOP-Gino Vannelli (78) (#-4-B'board, #-2-DJD) (87 rank-628)
I've always LOVED this; almost a disco ballad the way I hear it. Super sax in the break, I've really grown to love this Canadian's brand of music.
722. LOOKIN’ OUT MY BACK DOOR-Creedence Clearwater Revival (70) (#-2-B'board, #-1-1 wk-DJD) (87 rank-627)
Simplistic, but wonderful. Even my mom likes it. From a most top-notch album to boot. Love those acoustic guitar strums!
721. DO ME!-Bell Biv DeVoe (90) (#-3-B'board, #-1-1 wk-DJD) (87 rank-none)
If you're not familiar with this, I think any Clickster "in their right mind" should not have to listen. This was such a guilty pleasure in my later top 40 days! 3 members of New Edition gave this R-rated jam class for teen girls.
720. DRIVE-Cars (84) (#-3-B'board, #4-DJD) (87 rank-626)
Second Boston act in a row. When I first heard this I just could not believe this was the Cars! I'm sure others feel that way, too. A staple of lite rock radio, it's the first of their 3 in the big top 1000. RIP Ben Orr.
719. RAG DOLL-Four Seasons (64) (#-1-2 wks-B'board, #1-1 wk-DJD) (87 rank-625)
I love all their 5 #1 Billboard hits, but this is my least fave of them. Of their Phillips hits, I prefer "Ronnie" and even "Bye bye baby", as well as "Let's hang on". Just me. I never even knew this until Casey Kasem played back the #1 hits of the 1960's during the course of many months on his countdowns in 1981.
718. LET IT WHIP-Dazz Band (82) (#5-B'board, #1-2 wks-DJD) (87 rank-624)
Major aerobics workout! One of 1982's best; I've always loved this funky dance number.
717. MONDAY, MONDAY-Mamas & Papas (66) (#1-3 wks-B'board, #1-2 wks-DJD) (87 rank-712)
Often said that John Phillips hated this song. Somehow this got to the top instead of California Dreamin', yet it's never been such a classic. Still a good listen!
716. SCHOOL’S OUT-Alice Cooper (72) (#7-B'board, #4-DJD) (87 rank-623)
One of the all-time top rockin' summer anthems! Need I say anymore? Still with his band of the same name, it's the rock icon's all-time biggest.

715. TUMBLING DICE-Rolling Stones (72) (#7-B'board, #2-DJD) (87 rank-501)
Top notch-tune from a somewhat overlooked album, despite hitting #1. Still love it, but falling from lofty heights.
714. BREAK MY STRIDE-Matthew Wilder (83/84) (#5-B'board, #2-DJD) (87 rank-622)
Man, does this song SCREAM the 80's! I only know of a couple compilations it's ever been issued on, but thank goodness I found this CD on half.com! I'll be buying it VERY shortly! Later found fame in the 90's producing No Doubt.
713. A WHOLE NEW WORLD-Peabo Bryson & Regina Belle (93) (#1-1 wk-B'board, #15-DJD) (87 rank-none)
Super Oscar-winning tune. Hard to believe, but this tune from Aladdin's the only Billboard chart topper from an animated Disney film. I can show you the world...
712. SIR DUKE-Stevie Wonder (77) (#1-3 wks-B'board, #6-DJD) (87 rank-621)
Fine upbeat tribute to jazz master Duke Ellington. All over radio throughout 1977, yet I never knew at first, the song's proper title! His 3rd entry in the big 1K.
711. THE RAIN, THE PARK AND OTHER THINGS-Cowsills (67) (#1-3 wks-B'board, #6-DJD) (87 rank-621)
For those who didn't live the psychedelic and bubblegum eras, you might still remember this tune in a dream sequence from "Dumb and Dumber", if you've felt "silly" enough to see it. Either way, a fun, wonderful and dreamy tune. Fit the "family" era of TV like a glove (Bradys, Partridges, et al.).
710. SINGING THE BLUES-Guy Mitchell (56/57) (#1-10 wks-B'board, #1-3 wks-DJD) (87 rank-698)
Recently, I've grown to love this singer's music. My mom had already liked several of his tunes. Even in 1995, I only knew his 2 #1's--look for a LOT more from 1950-1960 in the updated list next year!
709. TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT-Eddie Money (86) (#4-B'board, #6-DJD) (87 rank-619)
I could be wrong, but this may be one of the Click's more favored tunes from the last 20 years. Wonderful reference to "Be my baby", complete with Ronnie Spector. A modern 80's staple.
708. LIKE A PRAYER-Madonna (89) (#1-3 wks-B'board, #3-DJD) (87 rank-none)
Never been a HUGE fan of this tune, especially with the sacrilegious video. Just the expected huge hit I figured it'd be; nothing too special.
707. PHOTOGRAPH-Ringo Starr (73) (#1-1 wk-B'board, #1-2 wks-DJD) (87 rank-618)
First of the 2 solo from the funny Beatle up in the big thou. Both from the same original album, too! Great involvement from George too. Always a fave.
706. DREAM ON-Aerosmith (73/76) (#6-B'board, #4-DJD) (87 rank-617)
The one that started it all for these guys. Calling this just a "rock classic" could be selling it short. Up there with "Stairway" as one of the all-time top quintessential rock ballads ever. And their forever highest on my list as well.
705. ON THE RADIO-Donna Summer (80) (#5-B'board, #1-2 wks-DJD) (87 rank-616)
Man, what is it with these Beantown acts in this section? Anyway a HUGE fave of mine right from the start, despite it being one of her less-remembered top-10's today. Great tune that bulds up from a ballad to that fierce disco stuff that was pretty much gone from tunes from 1980.
704. SOMEDAY-Mariah Carey (91) (#1-2 wks-B'board, #3-DJD) (87 rank-none)
All right, be gentle. Wonderful upbeat tune from another of my all time fave music ladies. Cool guitar in the break.
703. MR. BIG STUFF-Jean Knight (71) (#2-B'board, #2-DJD) (87 rank-615)
Back when most black women had afros as well as men!
One of the early 70's absolute essential soul tunes. Not familiar with this until the mid-80's, but it's always been a huge fave of mine since.
702. KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF-Georgia Satellites (87) (#2-B'board, #5-DJD) (87 rank-614)
Another of the great 80's classic rock hits. Southern rock with edge, nothing less. Sad they don't make tunes much like this anymore. Have the CD, and also glad it's on Rhino's 80's box set.
701. WHEN I THINK OF YOU-Janet Jackson (86) (#1-2 wks-B'board, #3-DJD) (87 rank-498)
Far from the best from the Control album, yet the only #1 from the album. Friendly midtempo pop that even adults got into. Not the world for it, keeps on droppin' big--maybe completely out of my top 2000 next list.
[/b]
The top 700 coming soon--stay tuned!
Comments and whatever, let's hear it!
