Well, the Dixie Chicks are definitely the top for me. I also like Alabama, Brooks and Dunn, Lonestar, Diamond Rio, SheDaisy (even though they're a Dixie rip-off)...hmm...that's all I can think of right now.

Well if you include duos in as groups, then The Kinleys are number one for me.
I do still like the Dixie Chicks, on the whole.
Other than that, Alabama.

My favorite is Alabama - great stuff from these guys. The Statler Brothers, The Oak Ridge Boys, Charlie Daniels, Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers have also recorded some very good music.
Of the duos, I'd have to say The Judds are my favorite, followed by The Bellamy Brothers.

I see I've never answered this one. Glad you bumped it up, Tammy. I'm not a big country fan, but I do like Alabama and the Oak Ridge Boys. In the crossover groups. The Eagles, of course, and Poco.

I'm glad to see the Eagles mentioned here....their crossover songs are classic.

Liss, do you have Nitty Gritty's Christmas album? I checked it out of the library this past season. I thought it was pretty good. Alison Krauss is on 2 tracks and Richie Furay from the groups Buffalo Springfield and Poco is on 2 others. Good stuff all around!

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the opinion that SHeDAISY are a "Dixie rip-off". Or maybe since this post is 2 years old (LOL) you feel differently now!! They may be 3 women fronting a country group, but that's the only similarity with the Dixie Chicks. In my opinion SHeDAISY doesn't get the credit or recognition they deserve. Maybe their music isn't "country enough" or maybe because they don't play instruments while performing (or not often). But Kassidy, the lead singer, is an extremely strong vocalist and with the other 2 (Kristyn and Kelsi) on harmonies, it is pure vocal perfection! Next to Martina, I would listen to their voices over just about anyone else. And the songwriting is so incredibly creative! You have to dig down into some SHeDAISY songs, especially some of the album cuts, to really get what a great songwriter Kristyn is. Great, great lyrics!! So that being said...SHeDAISY is my favorite country group! I also love Sugarland who have broken on the scene in a BIG way in the last 2 years! They're great!

I'm not as familiar with SHeDAISY's music as you are, and I just say that due to the time when they started to rise in popularity. I do agree that they all three have amazing voices that blend nicely together, and I don't doubt their talent as a group. Like I said, it was because of when they started to become popular. They seemed to follow pretty quickly after the Dixie Chicks hit it big, and that's just because of the way the music industry works. If producers see something that works (in this case a female trio), then they are going to try to duplicate it. But SHeDAISY and the Dixie Chicks produce very different music, and it seems that SHeDAISY rely more on their consistency as a group than on public controversy, which is something that has helped them a lot in the long run of their career.

Yes, I agree that because of the timing of their first release, they got compared to the Dixie Chicks, and I understand why. There haven't been too many 3-woman bands that have come on the scene. Although they have been fairly successful, it disappoints me that they haven't been as successful as I think they should be. Only 2 singles were released off their latest album and it's not looking like there will be another. With such creative songwriting and beautiful voices, I just love listening to anything they put out.
