I thought this would be an interesting question for this board.
I like the Stax logo with the hand. I think that's probably my favorite, or at least one of them. Last night I was listening to Isaac Hayes' "Hot Buttered Soul" which has that logo on it; that's what gave me the idea for this question.

I always liked the original Roulette label logo. It was maroon with the roulette wheel numbers around the circumfrence. Unfortunately the only immage of the label I could find is this little one. It's from Roulette records first big hit, Party Doll by Buddy Knox.

The Apple label; one side was green, the other side, or "B" side maybe? was the apple half. The MGM label with the blue and tan; it was neat to watch it spin on the turntable.Uni; that rainbow swirl was neat, and while I am on the subject of rainbows, MCA, when it went rainbow; it looked fresh and new. There are others, but I can't recall them at the moment.

A large part of the reason why records intrigued me so much as a kid was the colorful labels (especially the 60's/early 70's ones). I feel bad for the kids today who don't get the same kind of aesthetic with their CD's and iPods (although one thing I do like is reissues that have the original record label silk-screened on the disc, of which I have many). Of course, the most famous label design of the 60's has to be the old orange & yellow Capitol swirl label. The Beach Boys and Beatles really put that one on the map. The slightly similar MGM Blue and gold swirl was cool too. Others I remember well, and always loved: Buddah/Kama Sutra Uni The ABC variations (Dunhill with the color box around the logo, and the similar Bluesway, with the blue band around the perimeter, and impulse with the red band) Phillips with the multi colored stripe and the Philips logo (espesially the album label with the giant logo). All Warner Bros. variations from the red arrows label through the palm trees label Hi Steed Liberty/Imperial Sussex Private Stock (New York City label) All Motown affiliated labels There's TONS more, and I'll add more tomorrow. Here's a link to a site I really like a lot, which has a lot of really cool information about various labels. Some of you may have been here before.. www.bsnpubs.com/discog.html

My mom has a bunch of Tom Jones stuff, and it's all on the Parrot label, complete with cute cartoon Parrot.
I also like a lot of the other ones mentioned: Apple, Buddah, Rare Earth, Motown (map label), Roulette......
Before Rhino bought out whoever held Colgems, and adapted that label for their purposes, they had a bright yellow label with their cartoon rhino spinning a record on his horn. I have one or two of those.
Prince's Paisley Park records had trippy label with lots of paisleys on it - I have one of those.

I always liked the old Motown logo, with the map of Detroit, and the Bearsville logo, found mainly on Todd Rundgren albums.

I liked the Pacific label, but I think it only ever had Alan O' Day's "Undercover Angel" released on it. I have a 45 on the "Dookie Records" label somewhere, I can't remember what is ont he record I just bought it for the name.

So may of my own favorites have been mentioned--but the Vee-Jay label of the mid-'60s with the color band (Capitol and Dakar had them as well) always looked cool. Decca and Brunswick also had the same color schemes at the same time (both being MCA labels, that might have been some corporate issue).

I always liked the Big Tree label as it appeared in the mid-to-late '70s: Also, the Parkway label was a favorite of mine as a kid. Simple design, but it looked very cool spinning on the turntable: Another favorite was the '70s Warner palm trees label: . I hated it when they changed to the plain white logo in the early '80s. The late '60s-early '70s Uni label is pretty cool too, great retro colors and design: The Mushroom label was another cool one: . And Decca's 60s label: .
