Last night (9/29) I got to see the amazing Olivia Newton John perform in Seattle. We were the first stop on her latest wrold tour.
The concert was amazing. Olivia's in fine form - she looked and sounded amazing. I was lucky enough to have 3rd row seats so I got to see her up close. This tour is the first time that she's traveling with a full orchestra along with her regular band so we were lucky enough to be the first audience to ever see ONJ perform the song "Dancin'" live on stage.
This song of course is from the movie Xanadu where Olivia sings with The Tubes in a kind of "battle royale" between swing music and rock. I love this song and it was the highlight of the evening to be able to see ONJ and her group perform it live.
The rest of her set was a great mix of her older country-tinged hits and her newer stuff. The other great thing was that she had a big screen behind her that would play video montages during some of the songs and really enhanced the performance.
This was my 6th time seeing Olivia perform and as always, I go into her show hoping that she'll sing at least 1 of 3 of my favorite songs: Recovery, Little More Love, Landslide
This time she didn't perform any of these but the fact that she did the "Xanadu" songs Dancin' and Whenever You're Away From Me make up for it.
