Hi Dawn.
Sorry to say that I'm not familiar with the album. I really wasn't listening to music all that much in 1980. I remember Anyway You Want It and Walks Like A Lady slightly. I think they were both mild hits. (I'm more familiar with some of their later stuff like Open Arms and Whose Crying Now, both of which I like.)
I've got a couple of questions on a couple of the songs whose titles look familiar from other sources, and I'm wondering if it's the same song:
Someday Soon - Judy Collins Good Morning Girl - Neon Philharmonic.
Maybe tonight I'll try to download a couple of the tracks and listen to them.

Thank you, Dawn, for making this one of the first albums you do on here!
On the surface, this doesn't look like a huge hit album. Like H2, most people probably only know Anyway You Want it and MAYBE Walks Like a Lady (which just missed the top 30).
But if you like the harder rock sound of Journey, do NOT deny yourself the pleasure of this album!
"Side 12" is awesome all the way through. First you got the two singles, and then it goes to Greg Rolie's last vocal appearance with the band (and it's a great one). From there, Neal Schon takes the lead vocals! Well, shares it, on People and Places, the best track on the album, IMO. Precious Time rounds out that side very well.
Where Were You, Line of Fire and Homemade Love are all great rockers. Stay Awhile is basically a rewrite of Lights, and they even performed them in medley in concert.
The only real clunker, IMO, is Good Morning Girl.
If you are not familiar with this one, check it out!!

Check out the album, especially the tracks I listed!

Some great playing by both Neil Schon and Ansley Dunbar throughout the LP . Essential listening. Actually (and unfortunately), Dunbar was gone at this point, and Steve Smith was drumming. I say unfortunately because I liked Dunbar better. I guess they fired him, because he was too "prog rock" in playing style.

I really like this album. It takes me back to my beginning teen years. I have the tape. My favorites are: "Any Way You Want It" and "Stay Awhile". I still have 3 Journey concert t-shirts in my drawer. I wear them every once in a while.

I love Journey, and this is a great album! Memories of my high school days. Lotsa good tunes--some favorites being Anyway You Want It, Walks Like a Lady, Someday Soon, People and Places, and Stay Awhile. Really not a bad song in the bunch, IMO.

I've always liked 'Any Way You Want It', but wasn't familiar with the other tracks until fairly recently.

I really think this album, along with Evolution and Escape, captures them at their best. There's a lot of energy in the music, and the rockers are fantastic!

'Walks Like a Lady' is a gem that should have been more successful as a single.

I still have 3 Journey concert t-shirts in my drawer. I wear them every once in a while. It must have been great to have seen them in concert - from what I've read and been told, they put on a great show! I've always loved Journey's music, and like you, listening to their songs really takes me back to that time.
