I never liked the song "Imagine"- it was self-righteous and hypocritical. Neil Young showed how easy it was to make the song an honest one, with just a few changes. Lennon didn't do it.
"Oh My Love" is my favorite song on this album.
"How Do you Sleep" is a great song, although an unfair slam at McCartney (he's singing "the sound you make is Muzak to my ears" on a song overloaded with strings!)
"How?"- the best of his self-confessional songs. That was a risky thing to do, putting your ego out on the line like he did.
I like "Crippled Inside". It's catchy, and has something to say.
"Gimme Some Truth" is supposed to be deep, but it isn't. What kind of "truth" would Lennon like to have? It's just a rant.

IMO - One of John's finest moments as a solo artist . First heard it when I was probably about 5 years old . My brother had the album. Great guest musicians too including George Harrison , Nicky Hopkins , Joey Molland and Tom Evans (Badfinger) , Alan White , Klaus Voorman , King Curtis and Jim Gordon . My favorite tracks include: Jealous Guy(very nice) , Imagine , Gimme Some Truth , Oh My love , It's So Hard , How and Crippled Inside . I have Imagine on vinyl( an Apple Copy) and most of it was also included on the Lennon Box - Set which I also own.

I'm sorry to say I'm not too familiar with this album. I never owned it growing up, and I only know a few songs. Imagine of course, is a classic. "Imagine" if that song had never been written...The other songs I'm familiar with are Jealous Guy, and How Do You Sleep, both good songs!

I agree with you about 'Oh My Love' - it's one of his most beautiful ballads, and probably my favorite song on the album. 'How Do You Sleep' is good too, although as a huge McCartney fan I've always been a little troubled by the lyrics.

'Jealous Guy' is wonderful, with very thoughtful lyrics, and 'Imagine' is truly a classic. I'd love to get that Lennon box set!

This is a really wonderful album, probably the most consistent of all his solo works. For some reason, I don't recall ever hearing 'Imagine' on the radio when I was growing up - I think I was 18 the first time I heard it.

Love this album. I remember going to buy the cassette. Heard most of the albums cuts in the movie Imagine:John Lennon.
It's one of my top 5 solo Beatle albums for sure.
Faves- How Do You Sleep? How Jealous Guy Oh Yoko (Yes, despite the subject, it's a GOOD song!)

And you are right about 'Oh Yoko' - it's one of my favorites on the album.

His best solo album! My fave track is "Jealous Guy." "Oh My Love," "How?" and of course the title track, are very pretty. "How Do You Sleep" is so funny. I love Paul, but I gotta laugh at it! "Oh Yoko" is great fun! I even made up another verse for it: In the middle of a shit... in the middle of a shit I call your name!
