Not my favorite Cars album, due to the overexposure of the big hits, but a great one, nontheless. Both "I Refuse" and "Heartbeat City" are great tracks!
My favorite Cars album is "Panorama", due to the fact that it's a strange sounding album that NEVER gets any airplay. "Door To Door" was great, too, with it's "Should've been a big hit single but wasn't", "Strap Me In".

Hi Dawn:) I recieved the album as a christmas gift that year. I thought it was very good although their debut is still my #1 fave . Remember seeing the videos for Hello Again (with Andy Warhol) , Drive , You Might Think and Magic , Magic is my favorite track overall , other faves include : You Might Think , Heartbeat City , Why Can't I Love You and Hello Again.

Hey Dawn.
Although this album has one of my favorite songs by the Cars and may in my top 50 all time (Heartbeat City), I'm really not crazy about this album. It has some good songs, but it just wasn't the Cars of the late 70s or earlier in the 80s. Got it on vinyl, but it sits there while I listen to the early albums. Favorites: Heartbeat City, Drive, Magic.

You're absolutely right about Panorama, Pete - I very seldom if ever hear any of the tracks from it on the radio either. Good album, though.

There were some great videos from this album - I remember seeing 'You Might Think' fairly recently on VH-1 Classic.

When this was out, we were all over these singles. Once I got into classic rock radio though, I ditched most of this album.
I NEVER liked You Might Think. The song AND the video annoyed me.
Drive was a little too slow to me. I thought at the time that Ben singing was a rarity, but then I found out he did about half the lead vocals on the earlier tracks.
Magic was probably the best song, but I got burnt on that too.
Good album, just tired of it.

I thought the exact same thing about Ben Orr, possibly because 'Drive' was one of the few ballads they recorded, and his voice stood out more on it than the other tracks.

Excellent! When I think of my fave 80's albums, I gotta think of this one. I really miss Benjamin Orr. I would've loved to have been to a Cars concert, even though whenever I saw them perform on TV, they kind of just stood around like statues.
