Great album, Dawn. One of the ones in my box set (The Beatles Collection) My favorite cut is "Tell Me Why", which doesn't get nearly enough airplay on oldies radio.

You know, I had the America version as a hand me down from my stepmother. When I first got my CD player, one of my earliest CD's I got as a gift was AHDN. At first I was disappointed because I hadn't liked the American version that much.
But WOW, "side 2" is awsome!! Some of my fave pre-Rubber Soul songs! I mean, I'll Cry Instead is the weakest of those 6 songs, and it's STILL a great one! Anytime at All and You Can't Do That are two great early rockers. I'll Be Back is another fave. My two faves, however, are Things We Said Today and When I Get Home. Things We Said Today, Dawn, I discovered on The Compleat Beatles! My buddy and I loved it from the first time we heard it! And When I Get Home was a new discovery for me, and it blew me away!
First step towards their peak!

Hi Dawn! Love this album! I have the U.S. (United Artists) version, but I do own all the tracks on the British version in one form or another. This is such a great album that the Title track, IMO, may be one of the weakest songs -- and it's still great. If I Fell is in my all time top 100 faves, and is in my top 3 Beatles Faves. Love the harmonies on this one. I Should Have Known Better, Happy Just To Dance With You, Tell Me Why, Any Time At All, Things We Said Today, I'll Cry Instead, and I'll Be Back (20 years before Terminator ) are all vastly underplayed classics. There is NOTHING bad on this album.

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Great one Dawn! Every song is a winner! for some reason (don't ask me why) but I never got around to buying the American Version of the album although my cousin's had their copy back in the 70's . Now I did find a copy on 8 - track a few years ago and of course added the CD to the collection when it first came out . I also have the Something New album on vinyl .
Faves - All of them - George's guitar solo on And I love Her - brilliant. Ringo 's drumming on Tell Me Why - awesome - and some critics said he couldn't play (? ? ) never understood that at all . The harmonieson I''ll Be Back and If I Fell - just great!

Nothing here I don't like. But my favorites- "Tell Me Why", "I'm Happy to Dance with You", "I'll Be Back", and "Things We Said Today". The last two have an eerie haunting quallity to them, and both have great closing guitar instrumental parts.

I too very seldom hear 'Tell Me Why', which is a shame, because it's a wonderful song. Great melody, and I especially love the vocals on it.

Some of the strongest cuts are the ones that didn't appear on the American version. 'I'll Be Back' is one of my favorite early Beatles tracks, as is 'Things We Said Today'. Like you, I first heard that song on Compleat Beatles, and loved it right away! 'When I Get Home' is great also.

But as I mentioned to Sat above, this is definitely one of the times when the British version is much better. It's great to have all those excellent 1964 songs together, and to see their style developing and changing. I agree, 'If I Fell' has some wonderful harmonies.

He's truly one of the most solid, consistent drummers in rock. Their harmonies were especially strong during this period!

I have the American release. It was my mom's.
I like it. A good soundtrack. Good earlier Beatles. I really have no dislikes, and pretty much like everything on it.
I may get eggs chucked at me, but as their movies go, I liked "HELP!" better.

I may get eggs chucked at me, but as their movies go, I liked "HELP!" better. This is one of my favorite soundtrack albums. Very solid all the way through. LOL about the eggs! Although I prefer A Hard Day's Night, I think Help! is a good movie as well.
