Ok, so I'll be the first to answer!
Actually don't own the album, but love the cuts that got radio play and I have the 2 disc Smiling Phases set (which is awesome) and features those tracks.
But now that they remastered it and added bonus cuts, I may have to pick it up! I know I want to with Low Spark.
Anyway, 4 great songs on here. Steve Winwood at his best. Glad is one of the best instrumentals I have ever heard. Catchy, and you can actually remember it to hum it later on! Freedom Rider was one that took me awhile to get into. Taped a video of it years ago, only recently began to appreciate it. The title cut is the "weakest" of the four popular cuts, but not that bad.
My fave however is Empty Pages. I remember hearing it years ago on a classic rock station like once and loving it. I knew it was Traffic, but then I had to figure out the name of the song! Anyway my fave song with any Winwood involvement. An all time fave.
Thanks Dawn!

Gotta admit that this isn't a group that I really care for.

Traffic, another unhearlded group from the late 60s. And a great lineup of artists, Steve Winwood, Chris Wood, Dave Mason, & Jim Capaldi. Remained under the radar as most of their music was album oriented as opposed to going for the hits. This album did have a single release (Empty Pages), although not a top 40. This album may have been their best, or at least their best known. Even though I wasn't necessarily listening to Traffic in the late 60s, I had at least heard of this album. Love the two live cuts. Great album cuts. Favorite: Every Mother's Son, Freedom Rider, Empty Pages, Glad.

An excellent group of musicians! I don't have this album in my collection but I do have a few of the songs on different compilations. Empty Pages - From Time - Life's Sounds Of The 70's - FM Rock CD - My classic rock station plays this along with Freedom Rider quite a bit. Nice playing from Jim Capaldi on this - funky. Love the Fender / Rhodes piano on this too. Freedom Rider - Included on a compilation I made myself. Great flute playing from Chris Wood (RIP). I'm going to have to pick up that Smiling Phases Collection one of these days Glad - A fantastic tune!

Nice album. My favorite is "Freedom Rider", but I like "Empty Pages' and "Glad" too. The only one I hear anymore on the radio is "Glad".

Before I joined YL, I knew very little about their music, but have I ever grown to love it in the months since! I don't own this album either, but I'm familiar with most of the tracks that were on the original LP. I agree, 'Empty Pages' is one of the standout tracks - everything comes together so well on this song. 'Freedom Rider' is another of my favorites - love it!

Gotta admit that this isn't a group that I really care for. Thanks, beatles4ever. I think Traffic is one of those groups that most people tend to either like or dislike - not much in between.

I imagine it was difficult for them to succeed in a market that was primarily centered around singles at the time. But their music is superb, and still stands up well today. They were definitely a very talented group.

I also love the flute playing on 'Freedom Rider' - it adds just the right touch to the song, IMO. I also would like to get the 'Smiling Phases' collection sometime soon!

For some odd reason, the classic rock stations in my area almost totally ignore their music. I started listening to the Classic Rock Music Choice channel on cable a few months ago when I wanted to check out different groups that Sat and others from YL had recommended, and that's where I heard many of their songs.

Actually don't own the album, but love the cuts that got radio play and I have the 2 disc Smiling Phases set (which is awesome) and features those tracks. Same here. I have "Smiling Phases" and have listened to it quite a lot! It's out of print (according to what I read somewhere on the 'net), but I managed to nab me a used copy of it. It was priced at $20, but I had $8 worth of stuff to trade in, so I only paid $12. Cool huh? (quoting again)My fave however is Empty Pages. That's one of mine, too. The first time I heard it was in the '80s, so I thought it was a newer song from one of Steve Winwood 's solo albums. I found out later it was an old one from Traffic! ;D
