Have it on vinyl, but haven't listened to it in a long time. Love Watching The Wheels. Not crazy about the rest of the album.

Never had it, but no less than 6 cuts made it onto the John Lennon Collection which I have on vinyl.

Of course, there are the three hit singles. They summed up John's life those previous 5 years. He had fun just sitting back Watching the Wheels, Woman was for Yoko (although I saw an interview where he said it also meant the Beatles!), and he was Starting Over. I remember getting that single and just LOVING it. Such a cool sound on it. Then some ass hole thought it was up to him to play God.

The other cuts on the Collection are I'm Losing You (sorta remember), Dear Yoko (don't remember at all) and Beautiful Boy (Good tune).

Ugh! What a wimpy collection of songs. And to think he used to put down McCartney for going muzak in HIS albums!

Hi Dawn I have Double Fantasy on LP - I also have the tunes on the Lennon box and The John Lennon Collection. I bought the 45 of Starting Over when it came out , what a great song! it was so amazing to have new music from him again. I remember hearing after John passed away that he was going to tour again ( how incredible THAT would have been) .


No, there are no Yoko songs included on my faves list LOL Kiss , Kiss,Kiss - need I say more? "shudder"


Faves - Watching The Wheels , Woman (great ballad!) , Just Like Starting Over , Beautiful Boy , Cleanup Time and I'm Losing You.

It's been quite a while since I've listened to this one myself - I really get to get it out soon and get reacquainted with it. 'Watching the Wheels' is my favorite track also!

I have the John Lennon Collection also, only on cassette. That is an excellent greatest hits compilation!

The three singles from this album are all wonderful. I remember reading about 'Woman' also being about the Beatles. Even after all the difficulties the band went through, he still had fond thoughts of their years together.

From what I've read, the criticisms he and Paul levelled at each other got pretty vicious at one point. It's a shame things were so strained between them. Although this isn't John's best work, there are some real gems here.

LOL about the Yoko songs! I actually don't mind her song 'Beautiful Boys', but I like it more for the tune and the musical arrangement than for her singing.

I've always thought 'Cleanup Time' was an excellent song, kind of autobiographical like the singles. 'I'm Losing You' has some excellent guitar work on it!

Prett good album. I like all the John Lennon songs, epsecially "Just Like Starting Over" and "Watching The Wheels". I could do without all of Yoko's songs.

I love this album. We ran out and bought it right away when it first came out. I sat at home and held it and cried when I heard the news. We heard it on Monday Night Football, and Howard Co-Smell did not break the news nicely.

I was the only 7 year old I know who was so deeply moved by the whole thing.

I think it would have been better for John and Yoko to have released separate albums, the way they had done in the past. 'Just Like Starting Over' has such a great 50's-style sound.

I remember hearing about it the next morning in my 7th grade homeroom. What a senseless tragedy - a gifted man's life ended because of the actions of a warped "fan". Howard Cosell should have been more tactful when he broke the news - many people were fans of Lennon, and he should have been more considerate of their feelings.

I think I bought this album simply because it was his last one. Although I really like John with the Beatles, his solo career was probably my least favorite of the four. Starting Over is the only song that really stands out for me.

John recorded some wonderful songs as a solo artist, but overall, I don't think he achieved the success that many thought he would. Still, with this album, he was definitely on the way back to the top. I often wonder what other great songs he might have composed had he lived.
