I'm not a huge Hendrix fan, but this is the one original album by him that I own.
Of the bonus cuts, I know Stone Free, and sorta Red House. I'm actually more familiar with that one from a local cover band performing it.
Of course, Purple Haze and Foxy Lady get monster play. Also, The Wind Cries Mary, Hey Joe and Fire. Fire is my fave of those.
My fave Hendrix song overall is Are You Experienced? I don't understand why this doesn't get airplay on classic rock radio around here.

This is a classic!! Woo Hoo!! - I have this version on CD and picked up an original vinyl pressing a few weeks ago to re sell. Every song on the album is fantastic .
The first time I heard his music I must have been about maybe six years old. Mitch and Noel - what a rhythm section! Jimi's playing to this very day is mind blowing he was so ahead of his time. Love the backward drums on Are You Experienced,
Other Faves - Love or Confusion , Hey Joe , Purple Haze,Red House(awesome!) , Foxey Lady , Highway Chile , The Wind Cries Mary , I Don't Live Today , Can You See Me , Manic Depression , Fire and Third Stone From The Sun.

Hi Dawn - Great Choice today.
One of the great guitar players in music history, lost way to soon. Got this album on vinyl, and it's pretty wore out. Since Jimi only had one top 40, everything here is an album cut. And everything here is great music. One of my son's favorite artists. Favorites: Hey Joe, Wind Cries Mary, Third Stone from the Sun, Purple Haze, Fire, Foxy Lady.

The album that DEFINES "psychedelia". Always ranked as one of the best rock albums ever made. And Billboard reported it as the #1 best selling album of 1968, more than a year after its release. An album with true staying power. The best cuts rule! Long live PURPLE HAZE!!!

'Stone Free' is great, as is 'Fire' and the other songs that you mentioned. But like you, I don't hear 'Are You Experienced?' on the classic rock stations here very much at all, and that's a shame. Very good track!

I agree with you about Jimi's playing - he was an absolutely phenomenal talent. Listening to some of these songs, it's hard to believe that they're over 35 years old! 'Purple Haze' is the first song I remember hearing by him, on a compilation LP set called Superstars of the 70's that I bought at a yard sale when I was younger.

I'm sure that had he lived, he would have made some incredible music in the 70's and beyond. The songs on this album are definitely classics!

The songs on this album have held up very well over the years. 'Purple Haze' is one of my favorites also.
