Got this album as a hand me down from my brother when he was dumping a bunch of vinyl. Probably the best 80s Stones album overall.
Mostly familiar with the three singles, plus Little T & A, which got classic rock play. Start Me Up, while not eclipsing stuff like Satisfaction and Jumpin Jack Flash, is certainly up there as one of their most recognizable songs.
Love that tune and Hang Fire. Good album.

I found out that a lot of these songs were old by the time they recorded them (written in the early 70's). No wonder the album is so good!
With the exception of tracks 1 & 2 (CLASSICS!) you can totally trash the rest of side one. But side 2 is an INCREDIBLE album side, probably their strongest album side ever! I really should pick this up on CD, I've had the vinyl for ages..

I got the album - actually a couple of copies in a collection that I bought a few years ago. Remember seeing the "Neighbours" and "Start Me Up" videos. It's actually a very strong album.
Faves - Start Me Up , Little T & A (this also recieved quite a bit of radio play locally) , Waiting on a Friend (Great tune! nice ballad - fond of the video too) , Hang Fire and Neighbours

I agree with you about this being the best of their 80's albums. I remember hearing 'Start Me Up' a lot back in the day, and it's always been a favorite of mine. 'Hang Fire' is good as well.

I hadn't known that about the songs being that old, but now that you mention it, some of them are pretty reminiscent of their great early 70's work! I'd like to get this on CD myself sometime.

Such great lyrics and melody! 'Neighbours' is good, too - wish it got more airplay.

The three singles are all excellent, and 'Tops' is good, too - nice keyboard work on it. Sorry about the italics - for some reason, everytime I've tried to post this, it's come up italicized!

Your welcome, Dawn. This was their last good album, IMO. Waiting On A Friend and Hang Fire are my faves.

Your welcome, Dawn. This was their last good album, IMO. Waiting On A Friend and Hang Fire are my faves. Thanks again, JP. There are some excellent tracks on Steel Wheels, but I think that this is the better of the two albums overall.
