Don't have this album, so I only know the 2 big singles, but it is evident that they were changing their sound from a biker band type to an adult contemporary sound.
The title track is good, better than the 79 singles.

I had this on 8 track at one time.I don't remember what happened to it ? They were getting a bit more funky at this point with the addition of Michael Mc Donald ( I do a pretty good impression of him I think this is one doobies album that even though it includes Takin' To The Streets tends to be forgotten about. It does however include some fine tunes. Faves - It Keeps You Running , Takin It To The Streets , 8th Avenue Shuffle , Losin' End and Carry Me Away.

Hi Dawn -
Didn't like this album as much as their earlier ones. Thought the Doobies kind of started to go downhill when they tried to become a blues band. I've got this album, but rarely listen to it, to the point I don't really know many of the tracks except of Takin' it to the Streets & It Keeps You Running. Both a good songs, just not the classics of earlier Doobie stuff.

It's interesting to hear how their sound progressed over the years, and this was one of the transitional points. The title track has been a favorite of mine for many years.

That's cool about your impression of Michael McDonald! You're right that this is something of a forgotten album, but as you say, there are some wonderful songs on it. 'It Keeps You Runnin' is another long-time favorite of mine.

I can never decide which era of their music that I prefer - there were some excellent songs from both the Tom Johnston and Michael McDonald eras. As I mentioned to Sat, it's cool to hear how their style changed over the years.
