Good choice! Originally released in the US, with some track alterations, as "Introducing...the Beatles" on VeeJay. Because this has many of their best not on "1962-1966" AND "1", I plan to get this CD in the very near future. Top faves: Twist and shout Please please me Love me do Do you want to know a secret I saw her standing there P.S. I love you Anna (Go to him) The other 7, mostly cover versions, are great too.

A good sampling of early Beatles. Decent mix of covers and originals too.
I actually prefer this to With the Beatles.
Faves-Misery, Boys, Baby it's You (second to Smith's version), Do You Want to Know a Secret?, There's a Place.

Hi Dawn - another excellent choice ! What a great way to kick off an album than with I Saw Her Standing There just a great rock and roll tune . The Beatles , when they decided to do a cover tune IMO actually made it that much better - perfect example being Twist and Shout. This is simply an outstanding record, it has so much energy. Faves - All of them

Hi Dawn - A Beatles album is always a good choice. I don't own this one so the only songs I really know are those that went on to the charts.
Please Please Me is one of my top 5 favorite Beatles songs. Don't know why, just like it. Love Me Do & Do You Want to Know a Secret where typical early Beatles songs. P.S. I Love You is a pretty good song, not typical of early Beatles. Twist & Shout is an ok cover, just prefer the Isley Bros version better.

Thanks, Dave. I actually have a sealed copy of the Introducing...the Beatles LP, although I've been told it's probably a bootleg, considering that it's a pretty rare album in its original form. I agree, there are many great songs on this one! I need to update to CD on this myself.

Many of my favorite early Beatles tracks are on this one, including 'A Taste of Honey', 'Please Please Me', and 'I Saw Her Standing There'. Overall, I'm partial to their originals, but they do a wonderful job with the cover versions also.

And you are right about 'Twist and Shout' as well - they definitely made that song their own!

There are some wonderful harmonies on it, and I think John's harmonica playing adds a nice touch to the song. 'P.S. I Love You' is another good early classic.

I love their early material. Every track on this is good, though I don't think I've ever played the whole album all the way through. I ought to sometime.
