Picked this up on used vinyl for the two singles. Classic rock staples, for sure.
I'm a little worn out on them, but they are still good.
Also familiar with Sing For the Day. Nowhere near as good as the others.

I'm only familiar with a couple of the tunes - Renegade (which I heard regularly back in '78:) and Blue Collar Man - both fantastic songs! I have both on a Styx compilation. I may have heard Pieces of Eight but I'm not sure.

Hi Dawn - Good choice today
I think this album suffers a little, coming in between Grand Illusion & Cornerstone. It's still a great album. Renegade is still my 2nd favorite Styx's song (behind only Come Sail Away). Lord of the Rings, Pieces of Eight, & Queen of Spades are great album tracks. OK, I'll admit Sing for the Day probably shouldn't have been done, but they all can't be good. Other Favorite: Great White Hope.

They still sound great after all these years. 'Renegade' is probably my favorite Styx song. |

I may have heard Pieces of Eight but I'm not sure. Faves - Blue Collar Man and Renegade I agree, both of those songs are excellent. Like you, I remember hearing 'Renegade' often back in the day. I didn't hear it at all from about 1980 to 1990, and I kind of forgot about it until I heard it played over the PA at the city swimming pool in the summer of '90. It was so great to hear it again, and really brought back the memories! |

Grand Illusion and Cornerstone are two albums that are hard to top, I agree, but I think Pieces of Eight comes pretty close. The singles are my favorites, but there are some very strong album tracks on it also. I kinda like 'Sing for the Day' - not their best song, but still appealing. |
