Not exactly Band on the Run or Venus and Mars.
Had a couple singles (did you realize that the chart today had Take it Away when you typed these in?).
Ebony and Ivory isn't as bad as Say Say Say, but I think Paul's career would have been just fine without it.
Take it Away is good, like watching the video with Ringo and George Martin.
That's all I really know on this album.

Hi Dawn:) I don't have the album but I did buy Ebony and Ivory on 45 at the time - we played it in the Concert Band in High School and I have the 12'' single of Take it Away (I also love the video).
I did at some point borrow the CD from my local library and recorded a few of the songs.
Here Today is an excellent tribute to John.
Faves - Tug of War , Take It Away , Here Today and Ebony and Ivory

I pretty much consider this his last REALLY great album, though I like a lot of "Pipes Of Peace" as well. I call them the "War & Peace" albums.
Some of the songs, like "The Poind Is Sinking", are kinda pointless. But I LOVE "Somebody Who Cares" and "Wanderlust", and ESPECIALLY "Dress Me Up As A Robber" and "Take It Away".

Pete, have you ever checked out his late 80's/early 90's "comeback" albums? NOWHERE near the category of Band on the Run or Venus and Mars-hell, even Ram-but I thought they weren't bad. There are some clunkers (Distractions, Biker Like an Icon), but there is some good stuff on both Flowers in the Dirt and Off the Ground.

I've heard some good songs off both "Flowers" and "Ground", as well as "Flaming Pie" and his latest "Driving Rain". But I'm mostly talking about the album as a whole, and while he's had some good moments since the mid-80's, it's been a while since he's done an album that was good all the way through..

I think you'd like 'Here Today' a lot - it's very moving and emotional, and a great tribute to John. I remember he performed it in the concert that was aired on TV last November.

I remember we played songs like 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot', 'Body Language', and 'Only Time Will Tell', and they sounded really good! I've never seen the video to 'Take It Away', but hope to catch it on VH-1 Classic sometime!

I have this album on vinyl, but hope to upgrade to CD one of these days.

Pipes of Peace is pretty good also, I agree. I know it wasn't as well received critically as Tug of War, but there are some excellent songs on it. Like you, I think those two albums were his last really solid ones, although I do like some of the cuts from the later ones such as Flaming Pie.

Ebony & Ivory - Excellent!
Take It Away - One of my fave songs EVER!
Ballroom Dancing - Lots of fun to listen to
Tug Of War (title track) - Very underrated, always a pleasure to play it
Here Today - Tear-jerking moment for me when he says "I really loved you and was glad you came along"
