Zagat (the people who usually do Restaurant surveys/reviews just (I think) published a list of what they consider to be the top 10 albums of all time.
According to the Zagat Survey Music Guide the most popular albums are:
1. "Born To Run," Bruce Springsteen
2. "Abbey Road," the Beatles
3. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," the Beatles
4. "The Joshua Tree," U2
5. "The White Album," The Beatles
6. "Kind of Blue," Miles Davis
7. "Darkness on the Edge of Town," Bruce Springsteen
8. "Revolver," the Beatles
9. "Dark Side of the Moon," Pink Floyd
10. "Achtung Baby," U2

Love that 4 Beatles albums are on the list, but no Rubber Soul?? That was landmark album for 1965!
Ditch one of those U2 albums!

First, as good as some of these albums are, I find it hard to believe that 8 of the top 10 albums ever made come from three artists.
Second - Rubber Soul belongs on the list, as well as Pet Sounds, Slowhand, Rumours, Pictures At An Exhibition, All Things Must Pass, & Tapestry to name a few other very exceptional albums.

I was just thinking the same thing about Rumours and Tapestry. And I don't think three artists should have eight on this list either. That's just not right.

You're right, Woody. It seems that the survey wasn't very representative. I have no problem with multiple Beatles albums in the Top 10; they were in a class by themselves, but two U2s and 2 Bruces, while leaving out some of the others is definitely suspect. I certainly agree on Pet Sounds, Rumours, and Tapestry as being deserving of top 10 status. Maybe not so sure on the others you mention. I'm also curious as to the presence of Miles Davis on the chart. I don't know if this is an effort by Zagat to recognize other genres. If that's the idea, where is the top country album, top soul, classical, etc.
