Aside from the lights, the tree, the candles, and all the other things that seem to say "Christmas is here", nothing, says it quite like.....THE KING!
Today's album is:
Elvis Presley- Elvis' Christmas Album
This is one of my all time favorite Chrstmas albums. I've never been a big Elvis fan, but I do love this album. I remember my parents listening to this album. The music carries with it a large amount of old Christmas memories for me. I also remember the album cover...Elvis with a big smile on his face and a wreath wrapped around him. He looked so cute!
"Santa Claus Is Back In Town" – This song starts off slow and you think it is going to be a really slow song but then the beat kicks in and you find that it is a rocking Christmas song.
"White Christmas" – is also a classic. When Elvis sings this classic it gives you the desire to cuddle up and have a nice white Christmas with him.
"Here Comes Santa Claus" – You know how it goes “here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus right down Santa Claus lane”. This is a fun one and Elvis’ voice gives it that special feel.
"I’ll Be Home For Christmas" – This one brings back a lot of memories. This is my mom's favorite song.
"Blue Christmas" – This is a favorite of mine. This song has a great beat. You can just feel the sadness in the song.
"Santa Bring My Baby Back" – This is another rocking Christmas song. Elvis singing about how the only gift he wants from Santa is to have his baby back.
"Silent Night" – Elvis does a wonderful job at recreating this Christmas classic. I have heard many artists attempt this song. I always feel that it sounds better with a deep male voice.
There are even more great songs on this album. This album is a great mix of the great classics of Christmas music and some fun rocking Christmas songs. This is a must have for any Elvis fan.

Very nice review. Thanks for bringing a little holiday music into the mix. I've heard a couple of these (namely Blue Christmas) and Elvis does have a way with a song...I've just never been a big fan.

Andrea, you beat me to it on this one! LOL! I absolutely LOVE this album! The first Christmas album I knew all the way through. Andrea, this IS the one that includes If Every Day Was Like Christmas and Mama Liked the Roses, right? Because this is actually a reissue. I can tell from the cover you described. If Every Day Was Like Christmas was from 66, the rest from 57, I believe. But it is the exact version we had growing up! I remember seeing the commercial for it at the time, you know the "Not available in stores!!" one? And now you can pick up the tape at Walgreens for $4.99. My mom, even though they were divorced at the time, ordered this for my dad. That was kindof cool. If Every Day Was Like Christmas is my fave Christmas song and one of my all time fave songs period. The power he puts behind it is just unbelievable. Santa Claus is Back in Town is a classic, and tailor made for Elvis. He inspired covers by the Honeydrippers and Trisha Yearwood, cut in the same mold as his version. Santa Bring My Baby Back (to me)-classic title, and I love near the end when the King goes -"Then Santa!" really loud when the music stops! Elvis lends his wonderful touch to classics like White Christmas and Here Comes Santa Claus. A few years back, my wife picked me up If Every Day Was Like Christmas, which combines this (sans Mama Liked the Roses) with his 71 release. Maybe I will review that. Great review!

Boy, does this album ever bring back memories! My dad has always been an Elvis fan, and he bought this album on 8-track back in 1977. I can remember many an evening in December during the late 70s and early 80s when it would be playing. Today, whenever I hear one of the songs from it, especially 'Blue Christmas', 'Santa Bring My Baby Back', and 'Here Comes Santa Claus', it always takes me right back to that time.
Great review!

Yes, I think you're right. I can vaugely remember seeing commercials for the album..."Not available in stores...made by Romco!" Or something like that? I was just reading the CD booklet from If Every Day Was Like Christmas, and the version you and I have, 10 songs including Mama Liked Roses, first was released in that form in 1970. And been repackaged ever since!

Adam have you seen the 2 CD set released this year - Elvis - Christmas Peace? Yes I have! And if I didn't already have the If Every Day Was Like Christmas CD and wanted the Gospel collections, I'd get it! But I DO love the If Every Day....collection because of 4 alternate versions, and a brief spoken message. Boy, Graceland are masters of repackaging! LOL!

Good review! At our choir concerts in high school, they used to have a reception afterwards where people sang solos, and one year a friend of mine played his guitar and sang "Santa Bring My Baby Back". That's a fun song!
