Released - 1982
Label - Chrysalis
Produced By - Huey Lewis / News
Special Guest Musicians - The Tower Of Power Horns
Chart Position - #13 - 1982
Re- entry - Billboard Top 200 - 1984 - #123 and 1985 Top 200 - #116
Singles released
- Do You Believe In Love - #7 - 1982
- Workin' For a Livin' - #41 - 1982
This was Huey's second album (his debut being released in 1980) , and was the LP that gave the guys their first taste of success . I recieved this CD as a birthday present around '87 as I was trying to complete my "Huey" collection up to that point.
1.Change Of Heart - A great tune to begin the album with. Great guitar riff ,excellent straight ahead drumming and nice harmonies. This could have been a hit and it wouldn't suprise me if some radio stations played it.
2.Tell Me a Little Bit - This has a slight reggae feel to it and it works! Great keyboards.
3.Giving It All Up For Love - This is where things take a slight dip . The song's arrangment is great , the bands playing is solid but the lyrics really fall flat. They are just terrible - for example:
"she's got a tatoo on her tummy
and her Mommy plays gin rummy" - huh? ? "cringe" - Oh in case you're wondering they didn't write it.
4.Hope You Love Me Like You Say You Do - The tempo is slowed down for this one and it sounds very similiar (well to me anyway LOL ) to If This is It from SPORTS. Great playing from the T.O.P. horn section - It's a nice little track.
5.Workin' For a Livin' - This songs rocks - I just love it .Killer Hammond organ and a simply fantastic harmonica solo from Huey(woo hoo!)
Question :When I bought the 45 of Heart of Rock and Roll "Workin" was included in a live version on the b side. It's how I became familiar with the song .
Is this version on CD maybe as a bonus track? does anybody know ? I was just curious ( I still have my 45)
6.Do You Believe In Love - This is the very first song I heard from Huey - I saw him perform it on American Bandstand. A perfect pop record.
7.Is It Me - Another mid tempo ballad and a great one at that . It includes some fine sax playing from Johnny Colla.
8.Whatever Happened To True Love - A very , very good album track ,really nice bass playing and more awesome guitar.
9.The Only One - The song starts slow with keyboard and guitar harmonics and builds up to mid tempo. Nice background vocals - very catchy.
10. Buzz Buzz Buzz - This is a remake (and a fine one) of The Hollywood Flames hit from 1958. Huey and the guys really do a wonderful job with it and it's a great way to close the album.
Well that's it gang I hope you enjoyed reading my review
